Manager of Claims location, NYC salary, 100-115k Position: Manager, Claims Information Unit Duties and Responsibilities: - Assist AVP in the ownership of the automated and manual Reinsurance Claims processes supporting NY HO treaty Excess of Loss (XOL) recovery posting and reporting.
- Assist AVP in the management of quarterly accounting close activities in accordance with departmental objectives and production calendars.
- Preparation of XOL loss recovery calculations including submission of material recoveries to AIU RD for validation and approval.
- Prepare and distribute internal management reports.
- Respond to internal and external queries on XOL loss recovery activity and exposure.
- Collection of supporting loss documentation for regional offices
- Assist/Manage the Quarterly input/upload of data into XOL Access database application.
- Support regulatory (statutory), GAAP and SOX compliance requirements and audit processes.
- Assist the AVP in the quarterly audit review, through the checking and recording of the claim administration units processes against its established SOX controls.
- Analyze audit findings, through SUD's (Audit Differences), SADs (Control Deficiencies) & Management Letter Comments, and develop effective responses.
- Collaborate with the management team in the following areas:
- Maintenance of production calendars
- Development/execution of a claims administration unit staff development plan
- Account analysis and remediation efforts
- Identify/implement departmental process improvement initiatives
Position Requirements - Bachelor's degree required
- Seven to ten years professional experience
- Five Years Reinsurance/Claims experience, preferably dealing with Excess of Loss (XOL) Reinsurance Claim calculations. Previous experience in Reinsurance Claims collections/recoveries role a plus.
- Minimum three years Supervisory experience required
- SOX control experience preferred
- Systems implementation and/or Project Management experience a plus
- Strong analysis skills required
- Solid oral and written communication skills
- Advanced EXCEL skills (Pivot Tables, V Lookup functions) required
