SUMMARY: This person is responsible for interfacing with the user communities of a Global 100 company. The candidate must be able to communicate verbally and in writing. In addition, the person will also be a liaison to upper management for PC support issues.
KEY DUTIES: -Working knowledge of Altiris Client Management Suite -Install and perform repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications -Perform PC Support functions. Oversee the daily performance of computer systems -Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cable, operating systems, and appropriate software -Maintain record of daily user communication transactions, problems/remedial action taken, and installation activities -Maintain record of computer asset transactions, installation, de-installation and other Asset Management activities -Confer with users, and conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems and to provide technical assistance and support -Confer with staff, users, and management to establish requirements for new systems or modifications -Refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service -Prepare evaluations of software or hardware, and recommend improvements or upgrades -Read trade magazines and technical manuals, and attend conferences and seminars to maintain knowledge of hardware and software -Inspect equipment and read order sheets to prepare for delivery to users -Modify and customize shrink-wrapped software applications for internal needs -Answer users' inquiries regarding computer software and hardware operation to resolve problems -Assist with process automation feasibility studies, including workflow analysis, space design, and cost comparison analysis
REQUIRED: -Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent certifications, such as CompTIA A+/Net+ or Microsoft MCDST (Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician). Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) also desired. -Advanced or expert knowledge of both IBM compatible and Apple computers. -Ability to install, configure and troubleshoot operating systems from Windows XP through Windows 7. -Working knowledge of Incident and Asset Management suites, such as Altiris Client Management Suite.
