Middleware System Administrator
Position Responsibilities/Duties:
Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and configuration of IBM WebSphere MQSeries. Assess and identify appropriate changes and make recommendations for implementation
Perform MQ system administration, troubleshooting, monitoring, problem resolution, MQ system security and change implementation
Work individually or in a team on various system projects related to UNIX, Linux, Windows and Application support.
Plan, prepare and apply maintenance fixes and upgrades to Websphere software
Develop test plans for implementing new software or new releases of software
Assist Developers with high level problem program debugging and correction
Provide system support including off shift on call support as and when required. Increase staff skill levels by cross training
Experience/Knowledge Requirements:
5+ years experience supporting WMQ within UNIX/Linux/WMB environments
Should have strong AIX/Linux operating system administration experience. Must know korn shell and perl programming
Certification / Training in WebSphere MQ
Experience with installation, configuration and administration of WebSphere Message Broker and MQFTE a plus
Optional: Experience with installation, configuration and administration of WebSphere Application Server
Required Skills/Abilities:
Experience creating configuration manager, toolkit. Brokers, Queue Managers, define Objects, channels, SSL, Clustering, shared channels, shared objects
Able to setup security for WebSphere MQ queues & other objects for data access and for administration using role-based security
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Must have quality team building skills, positive attitude, detail oriented, self motivated and strong project management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities that continually change
Skills and Special Requirements (heavy lifting, excessive overtime, etc.)
On call remote support through regular rotation
