| AgilePoint and Progress Software catalyze Process Management Body of Knowledge In September of 2010, International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) joined forces with BPTrends, Object Management Group (OMG) and Queensland University of Technology, and Sandy Kemsley of Kemsley Design, to form the Process Knowledge Initiative (PKI) to steward the development of an open source body of knowledge on process management. Business process management is one of the major forces shaping the future of business analysis. According to the results of the 2010 IIBA®/Forrester Research Global Survey of business analysis practitioners, 47% of business analysts are involved in process improvement projects, and two-thirds of BAs deal with process issues at least some of the time. Given the importance of BPM to our community, IIBA felt it was important to support this effort to build a set of shared concepts and knowledge around BPM that could be used to build future extensions to the BABOK® Guide, certifications, and professional development programs. | The Process Knowledge Initiative (PKI) announced today that AgilePoint and Progress Software have signed on to sponsor the Process Knowledge Initiative as members of the PKI Catalyst Program and that the PKBoK Wiki is now available. For more information on the PKI visit http://www.processknowledge.org. As thought-leaders in the BPM field, AgilePoint and Progress Software share the Process Knowledge Initiative's vision and enthusiasm for a truly open -- open source, open contribution, free use -- process management body of knowledge.    "Progress Software is committed to help with the Process Knowledge Initiative's collaboration and overall goal of creating an open source body of knowledge on process management, and we are thrilled to be a part of this endeavor," said Dr. M. Ketabchi, Chief Strategist of Progress Software Corporation.  "Business processes are constantly evolving, and this body will provide the business process community with one single destination to access a deep and comprehensive knowledge base to help with this fast paced technology." Completing a major milestone, the Process Knowledge Initiative launched the PKBoK Wiki platform including the first draft of the proposed Knowledge Areas. The initial release is available for public review at bok.processknowledge.org. "The key to having a widely-accepted body of knowledge is openness, and it is this guiding principle behind the Process Knowledge Initiative's process body of knowledge that originally inspired me to become involved", said Sandy Kemsley, BPM Analyst at Kemsley Design.  "The two cornerstones of this open-source mindset -- having the information available at no cost to the public under a Creative Commons license, and accepting content and opinions from any interested party on an open wiki -- allows us to build a body of knowledge that will benefit practitioners, students, vendors, consultants, analysts and all other members of the BPM community." With the Wiki launch and knowledge area release, the PKI transitions from start-up mode to a full-fledged community activity. Visit the PKBoK wiki. About the Process Knowledge Initiative The Process Knowledge Initiative (PKI) is a not-for-profit, collaborative industry and academic endeavor with the sole purpose of creating an open source body of knowledge on process management.
