Leading Provider of data, analytics, news and intelligence serving several
industries seeks a Manager of Systems and Infrastructure to lead the
implementation of new systems as well as the operations of all internal
systems and security. This role requires a combination of skills including
excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to distill internal
user needs and translate them to enterprise level solutions through design,
architecture, and a number of management activities.
This role is responsible for implementation and the operation of technology
infrastructure, to include, networks, servers, active directory, telephony,
service monitoring, IT service management, end-user support, workstation
management, servers, storage and related software. This position is
operationally responsible for ensuring the availability, integrity, and
security for all IT systems.
This position reports to the CTO and will be responsible for a $3-4M budget
with a staff of 5-10 people servicing finance, engineering, sales, customer
services and marketing through a variety of solutions and leveraging cloud
solutions as much as possible.
This hands-on position will be required to develop and lead a matrix
environment consisting of on- and off- shore staff while making technical
decisions and work closely with cross functional business areas and IT
groups.
The ideal candidate will be a technically competent, hands-on self-starter
with strong communication, leadership and organizational development skills.
Must be able to work with multiple project teams simultaneously and thrive
in fast-paced, dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.
Responsibilities:
* Operate a cost-effective infrastructure technology encompassing:
SaaS solutions, desktop environments (computers, printers, peripherals),
voice and data networks, virtual environments, server operations, enterprise
storage, enterprise backup, messaging, security administration, mobile
devices, vendor contracting and management, disaster recovery and service
desk.
* IT Service Management (ITSM) (incident /request/problem/knowledge
management, service catalogs and work flows).
* Asset management of the infrastructure technology life cycle
including licensing, upgrades and retirement.
* Provide leadership by design and implement operational strategy.
* Provide consulting to business on system opportunities, risk
assessment, technology relevance and alternate implementation strategies to
meet business operations and risk objectives.
* Manage operational issues in a timely manner.
* Develop Total Cost of Ownership of applications; manage operational
level agreements with partners to meet business needs and perform
stewardship activity to ensure systems are current.
* Participate in design and management meetings.
* Work with on-/off-shore teams to provide operational leadership and
production support.
* Plan, develop, supervise and implement infrastructure project.
* Provide guidance, leadership and mentoring to infrastructure service
professionals. Support and develop the technical expertise needed to meet
long-term business needs.
* Manage staff task assignments.
Skills:
* Bachelor's degree in computer science or information management
required. Master's degree in similar fields preferred.
* 6+ years of Information Technology experience, with 3+ years of
progressive experience in, voice and data network technologies, project
management, server operations, messaging and employee management.
* Advanced knowledge of computer and network related technologies and
protocols. Experience with Cloud, Active Directory, Domains, DNS/DHCP,
workstations, servers, network administration, routers/switches, structured
cable systems, telephony systems and WAN design.
* Experience with overall performance and network availability,
performance and capacity.
* Advanced knowledge in server operations. Experience with enterprise
storage, backups, domain administration, messaging and server operations,
including virtualization technologies.
* Ability to multi-task, problem-solve and prioritize in a fast paced
environment.
* Strong vendor management and SLA governance skills.
* Excellent English written, oral, and presentation communication
skills.
* Experience working with infrastructure teams, customer support
teams, vendors, solution providers, and business partners.
* Experience in DR management and risk mitigation
* Strong analytical skills, ability to use metrics to drive proactive
/ continuous improvements.
* Prepares and keeps current documentation on all managed systems,
including disaster recovery plans.
* Experience managing/mentoring internal teams.
* Skills that are a plus include:
* Experience and/or familiarity in SaaS operations, debugging
Infrastructure issues.
Certificate in ITIL and MCSE/MCSA.

Sr. Director OSS
The Sr. Director OSS will lead and manage all software application development within the OSS/BSS department and its respective support functions. A given piece of software application can range from being an application interface for an unmodified, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software package to being a completely custom, written-from-scratch system. This includes leveraging COTS and/or open source software, custom software built in-house using commercial and/or open source software frameworks and libraries, and complex application systems comprising all of the above. The Sr. Director will be required to lead all development efforts and conceptual designs, while adhering to software development life and supervising methodical testing of code and data architecture structures of medium to large complex applications. This includes translating business requirements into respective flow diagrams, recommendations on framework & vendor platforms, selection of software stacks and assisting with the overall development of departmental stan dards for Application Development within the OSS department. Additionally, the Sr. Director of OSS will serve as the highest technical support resource for applications supported by the OSS/BSS department. This includes 24/7 support for all respective applications created or supported within the department's operational business function, while providing guidance and leadership to Analysts, Developers, Database Administrators, and Data Modelers/Architects.
Additional responsibilities include: leads all application development, system support and technical leadership to a staff of programmers, developers, DBAs, analysts and system architects responsible for all network management tools and systems; preserve and implement all engineering and development life cycles while tracking projects to ensure all tasks and deliverables are meeting technical compliance, system and process stan dards, best practices and on-time task completion; foster new solutions and approaches and guide successful technical adoption through mentoring, instruction, and by actively participating in application support and software development projects.
· Bachelor's in Computer Science or Engineering, MS preferred
· Minimum five to seven years of experience managing software support teams for medium to large projects
· Experience working within a formal methodology for software development (agile SDLC)
· Advanced experience in Object Oriented Programming, Perl, Shell Scripting, Java and C, Linux Systems Administration, MySQL Tuning and Administration,
· Knowledge of various system architectures VMware, EMC San, JMS, SOAP, Apache technologies, very large databases (VLDBs), Oracle BPM
· Significant experience with the design, development and maintenance of enterprise level data systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, Ping/Unbound and very large databases (VLDBs)
· Strong data modeling skills (normalized and multidimensional)
· Strong technical skills with all data warehousing technologies (e.g., ETL, ODS, DBMS, BI)
· Experience in leading successful enterprise data software development efforts.
· Working knowledge of development frameworks (Java, Rails, Toad, Eclipse, etc).
· Technical expertise in SNMP, or other protocols used to attain data requests via network infrastructure - desired
· Proficient with LINUX or UNIX shell scripting, Perl required. Other languages a plus (C, C++, Java, Python, etc) - desired
· Experience supervising and training highly technical staff
· Ability to organize, plan and execute medium to large projects with unanticipated priority change
· Proven leadership in a team environment working in a technical capacity.
