Learning Management Systems Administrator II
New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) offers undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees to approximately 15,000 students through seven academic schools, at campuses in New York, at a number of global sites and campuses, and online. NYIT is a leader in developing creative approaches to the technological and global challenges in higher education today. NYIT seeks a Learning Management Systems Administrator II. Under the direction of the Director of Systems & Networks, the LMS Administrator II will perform daily systems administration and management tasks required for proper operation of file print servers and systems. The successful candidate will ensure the availability and reliability of all networks and systems; assist with needs assessment, solution formulation, design, recommendation, and implementation of hardware and software for all systems and projects. More specifically, the LMS Administrator II will monitor, maintain and manage the hardware and network operating systems; plan, design, install, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot hardware, network operating systems, and software for the file, print, and application servers; apply patches/fixes; manage security and monitor system performance; perform day-to-day system administration functions including backup, restore, user account administration, system troubleshooting and repair; act as a liaison to other technical groups and interact with developers and users to install and configure services; participate in planning and implementation of upgrades and new software and hardware installations; evaluate related hardware and software products and make recommendations for implementation; assist with the maintenance of the information technology asset database and the call tracking system. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and a minimum of five years of relevant experience required. Master's degree preferred. Must possess a thorough understanding of networking principles, including Windows 2000/2003 and Unix/Linux operating systems and administration. Must demonstrate proficiency in Active Directory administration and design, TCP/IP protocols and stack, and LAN/WAN connectivity. Project management and remote connectivity solutions experience preferred. Previous experience in a higher education environment is strongly desired. Must be available to work holidays, weekends and evenings and provide on-call coverage after business hours on a routine rotation basis and for special projects.
