Greetings to all,
Just want to wish everyone a happy 4th of July. Don't forget to network this weekend. There will be various opportunities to interact with people: fireworks, parades, picnics, trips to the store, going to church, watering your lawn...etc.
Enjoy and connect!

Tips from Donna Coulson

Some tips from our friend Donna Coulson...
7 Ways to Maintain a Positive Approach to Change
and Find Real Opportunities for Making Good Choices
1. Smile. Nobody wants to hire a Picklepuss.
2. Do your homework on potential firms: Internet, Yahoo Finance and ask
questions of your Network you wouldn't put in e-mail like (a) What's it like to
work there? (b) How's the management team?, (c) Are they financially stable?
3. Attitude is everything. You are AVAILABLE to serve and share your skills--
not Unemployed.
4. Finding work is a full time job and takes a long time in this market:
Connect with others to find out who's hiring; let your neighbors, friends,
relatives, dry cleaner, gas station and banker know you're seeking work as a
______________.
5. Master your 30 second Introduction: What results you'll get from hiring me
and why I'm the right person for this firm.
6. Think SMALL to MEDIUM companies. The truth is Fortune 500/1000 continue to
merge and lay off massive numbers of people in 2010. So REINVENT yourself to a
smaller scale. Small is not broke! Watch your LANGUAGING—don't use AT&T terms
or government acronyms. Speak simply and clearly in describing your skill set7.
Be your BEST SELF. Look sharp, dress the part, hide your figure flaws with the
right clothing, get a good haircut that makes you look current and good for
whatever age you are. You never know if your next job lead is at the
supermarket, ATM machine or your kids or grandkids soccer game. Look good and
feel good at all times. You make an impression everywhere.
