Position Summary:
Note - This is a hands-on, individual contributor development role - not an
architect level position as the title suggests. Experience with Front Office
development is essential, particularly pre-trade / research / analytics type
development & knowledge and experience with risk and pricing of derivatives
is key. Must have experience working in a real world, trading environment.
Must be very confident in discussing business needs with Portfolio Managers.
The Systems Architect will coordinate technology requests and projects, and
design, develop, acquire, test, implement and support technology solutions
for Front and Middle Office departments, who manage investments for internal
trading. This individual will also contribute to the overall architecture of
applications developed at the firm.
Development Environment/Tools:
Java, Web Services, .Net C#, SQL, Excel, WebFocus
Vendor Packages supported:
Asset Control, VPM, Bloomberg, Reuters, IDC, Mark-IT,
Key Responsibilities:
· Design, develop, test, implement and support software
· Evaluate, acquire, integrate, test, implement and support vendor
solutions
· Coordinate technology requests and projects for the Front and
Middle Office Departments to ensure they are completed on-time, on budget
and meet the needs of the internal customers
· Work closely with the internal customers to gather and analyze
requirements
· Mentor junior developers
· Lead small teams to implement development projects
· Educate internal business customers on the use and limitations of
technology solutions
Required Skills and Competencies:
· BS in Computer Science or related field; a Masters degree is a
plus (Quant. or Computational Finance degree highly desired)
· Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting Front Office
applications
· Minimum of 5 years of application development and integration
experience
· Knowledge and experience with Fixed Income and Equity Derivatives
is mandatory (Derivatives knowledge via graduate school academic background
acceptable)
· Experience with Excel and .Net C# or Java is mandatory.
· Experience with Sybase, Matlab, Fincad and/or Numerix is desirable
· Experience working with Bloomberg or Reuters is mandatory, other
market data provider experience is desirable
· Very good communication skills
· Strong data and system design and analytical skills
