Food Bank For New York City

The Food Bank For New York City works to end hunger and increase access to affordable, nutritious food for low-income New Yorkers through a range of programs and services that focus on food distribution, nutrition education and income support.

The Food Bank procures and distributes food to approximately 1,000 emergency and community food programs throughout the five boroughs; provides food safety, nutrition and capacity-building workshops; manages nutrition education programs in multiple settings; operates food stamp outreach and education programs; operates a soup kitchen, food pantry, coordinates the largest civilian Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) program in the country; and conducts research and develops policy to inform community and government efforts to end hunger throughout New York City.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB:

To assist with the execution of corporate, foundation and government giving programs, including gift processing, grants administration, prospect research, proposal preparation and on-going cultivation activities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain donor hard files and electronic tracking systems;
Work with the Corporate and Foundation Giving Manager and the Government Grants Manager to conduct research on prospective corporate, foundation, and government funding sources;
Process corporate, foundation and government grants;
Develop funder inquiries and proposals under the direction of the Corporate and Foundation Giving Manager and the Government Grants Manager;
Submit materials to institutional funders, complying with all grant guidelines and deadlines;
Generate acknowledgement letters for all institutional gifts;
Work with the Database Administrator to ensure institutional gifts are recorded correctly in Raiser's Edge database;
Work with the Database Administrator to develop reports utilizing Raiser's Edge fundraising software;
Assist with the execution of donor-related and other events;
Carry out other assignments as directed by the Director of Philanthropy and Vice President of Fund Development;
Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

B.S. or B.A. Degree or equivalent;
Commitment to Development and the Fundraising field strongly desired;
Excellent writing and organizational skills;
Attention to detail required;
Comfort in a fast-past, high energy environment;
Knowledge of computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines;
Ability to multi-task;
Knowledge of Raiser's Edge a plus.

Architect Specialist – Infrastructure North Central NJ
120-135K base plus bonus
BA or BS degree is required.

Architect is responsible for day-to-day delivery of Infrastructure (new h/w, Storage and upgrades) in support of entire portfolio of applications. Architect will work closely with other groups in streamlining infrastructure procurement and propose more efficient options and methodology.

· Interfaces with Application managers and Architects to review and process hardware requests. Provides cost estimates.
· Manage TCO forecasting
· Understand and recommend virtualization options
· Propose and validate High availability deployment architecture options
· Manage OS upgrade (Solaris to Linux, AIX to Linux, etc)
· Manage end-to-end datacenter migrations
· Responsible for maximizing Infrastructure utilization of the organizations resource inventory
· Identifies asset optimization opportunities in hardware / software management
· Interfaces with App Mgmt to assess and validate business needs· Conducts periodic capacity reviews of applications
· Reviews available performance metrics and partners with Application Manager to proactively avoid capacity related outages
Establishes medium and long range capacity forecasts
Provide technical guidance migration strategy for EOL, EOVS products and h/w platforms

Qualifications

Play a critical role in technology programs contributing to the cost-effective delivery of Infrastructure to application groups. 7+ years of work experience in datacenter environment. 3+ years of demonstrable project management experience. Strong understanding of Virtualization, Linux, Solaris, AIX, Database and Application server deployment and failover architectures. Experience managing infrastructure upgrades and datacenter migrations plans.

Excellent interpersonal skills, especially since the architecture team has no direct line of command over development staff. A team player. An enthusiastic 'can do' approach. A positive and pro-active attitude. A history of delivering against agreed objectives. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
