" ... people who are optimistic by disposition are good at coping with problems and flexible about trying new courses of action when needed. And, the authors point out, there's the question of self-fulfilling prophecies.
Interestingly, the researchers note that their findings suggest that appearing to others to be optimistic if you're not would yield some but not all of the job-hunting benefits of a naturally optimistic disposition."

The Rivertown Networkers was established to bring self-employed and
work-at-home people together--to get out of the house and socialize with
other professionals. It's a small group of folk that meet at a neighborhood
restaurant. In-transition people now also attend. See their Facebook page at

If I may add a little more. Most Rivertown Networker meetings are at a local
restaurant but they also hold larger meetings at the Hastings Library when the
invitation is sent more broadly. The meeting on 11/3 at 1 PM is just such a
meeting.
The goal of the group is beyond simply socializing, it is also to swap leads,
ideas, and strategies.
Please feel free to join us, and let Sue or Shelley know you'll be attending.
Thanks for the clarification Maurene.

November Meeting - Darcy Knapp
Posted by: "John Rechenberg" jar1@optimum.net john_rechenberg

Good afternoon everyone,
I first am sending a request to Rob Z. for a bio and program notes for Darcy
Knapp. I've pulled down a picture and wrote up a best guess flyer for Darcy,
both of which are in the November Meeting dropbox.
This meeting seems to have drawn some interest. I left out about 20 flyers
at one of my meetings, most of which disappeared. Apparently, Darcy's Search
Engine Expertise has struck a nerve somewhere. We should make sure job seeks
in the Metropolitan area hear of this meeting.
