Position: Director of Software Quality
Company: Medical Management – Nimble – Early-stage – Poised for Explosive Growth
Location: Ohio
This
position directs the Quality activities related to The Company Software
Development, Testing, and Release, assuring that proper systems and
controls are instituted and maintained concerning all facets of product
testing and release. This position has direct responsibility for all
Quality activities.
The incumbent will direct the activities
of the Quality function to ensure an economical operation and
performance in accordance with established Corporate Quality standards
and Regulatory requirements as they relate to all facets of the
business.
Required Skills/Experience
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Operations Research or equivalent.
Current or very recent experience working for a company in the software industry.
Experience managing and implementing Agile, Test Driven Development and Quality practices.
Heavily focused on test automation and policies and procedures to support highly automated and nimble organizations.
5+ years experience managing a Quality organization for a commercial, enterprise scale software product.
10+ years of increasingly more responsibility within Quality organizations.
Ability to direct with a hands-on collaborative style.
Knowledge and experience with available testing tools and software including:
◦ Mercury Tools.
◦ CA tools.
◦ IBM Rational Tester.
Understanding of Enterprise software architectural practices as it
relates to developing a high level of test coverage – i.e., skilled in
authoring /writing test cases and hands-on experience in terms of test
automation
Understanding of Enterprise software architectural practices and the components and interactions of an Enterprise system.
Ability to manage, direct and mentor highly technical functional testing teams.
Ability to manage, direct and mentor highly technical performance testing specialists.
The
ideal candidate for this position will know how to be strategic and
tactical which generally comes from working in small to larger
organizations. Our client is seeking someone who has demonstrated that
he/she is a Quality Assurance Department leader – someone who has built
out a successful/ effective QA Department – who knows what that looks
like and how it functions. Also, given that this is a smaller company,
one must be able to roll up one's sleeves – e.g., write test scripts
when necessary.

The project manager for this position will be working in a group that is assigned the objective of reducing approximately 1500 application systems across all divisions and divested entities of our client. This program has 2010 objectives to support the retirement for 600 applications. Working in a highly collaborative environment, the Project Manager will be assigned a portfolio, or smaller portfolios of applications to retire following a standardized process.
Individuals for this position must be well rounded candidates with experience in data privacy, change management, interacting w the business, training if needed, understanding the web component and database and servers.
Responsibilities for this position include:
Provide IT owners with an initial overview of the retirement process.
Participate in the team-based portfolio meeting to review and assign new projects.
Prioritize application retirement projects based on overall workload.

Responsible for executing application retirement.
Additional competencies and skills of the ideal candidate:
Strong Life Sciences industry experience (5-10 years)
Experienced in the area of IT project management, portfolio management, and the retirement of electronic computer systems.
Knowledgeable in applications and database architectures across all technology platforms.
Excellent interpersonal skills for building relationships across global IM organization.
Excellent collaboration skills demonstrated in multiple team working sessions each week.

Overview:
The Senior Project Manager will
lead project teams to deliver multiple, simultaneous projects that span across
several business or technology areas. The candidate will be expected to
effectively manage resources, schedule and quality of deliverables through the
full project life cycle (discovery, analysis, design, construction, test and
implementation.) The candidate will often work in close coordination with
the Online Business Manager (OBM) to successfully manage and deliver web store
products to new partners. The Senior Project Manager will also be
expected to contribute to the development of a project management methodology
and assist in the construction of a formalized program office. This
position will report to the Director of Business Analysis.
Responsibilities:
A senior project manager will
be expected to have superior proficiency in the following areas:
Project Management - This position will have accountability for the
successful delivery of multiple, simultaneous large projects. Candidate
will work together with business and technology leads to build well-structured
project plans that segment projects into pre-defined phases. A Senior
Project Manager will be expected to use expert communication and leadership
skills to establish a common understanding of project timelines, milestones,
and expectations on delivery. Candidate will provide direction to project
resources, monitor development efforts, assemble key project deliverables, and
intelligently identify issues requiring escalation when reporting project
status. Candidate will need to closely monitor change requests and
prevent unapproved requirement modifications that result in scope creep.
A Senior Project Manager will need to schedule and facilitate project status
meetings and advise management on the effects change requests will have on
schedule and resources. Candidate has the ability to communicate project
implementation options that affect cost, schedule, quality, and risk to
stakeholders, as well as offer recommendations based on these elements.
Candidate should have experience working with use case specifications, UML
models and a variety of project management methodologies. Ability to
follow the Rational Unified Process (RUP) using the Rational tool suite would
be of benefit.
Relationship Management - Should have ability to motivate and build
collaborative teams who are dedicated to project delivery. Candidate will
work in collaboration with the online business manager (OBM) when interfacing
with external business partners, internal business area experts, business
analysts and software development teams. Will need to set expectations
among these groups regarding scope, timeline and quality of
deliverables. Will need to work effectively with all groups
to build work breakdown structures (WBS), develop project plans and update
project status.
Business Analysis- This
includes leading business analyst(s), on a per-project basis, in extracting
requirements from external stakeholders, internal business representatives, and
software development teams. The candidate will have significant influence
and will ultimately be responsible for the quality of requirement
deliverables. Candidate should have experience using UML, and building
and interpreting use cases.
Resource Management - For each project, candidate assists in identifying
the skills and resources needed for each stage in the project
lifecycle. He or she provides resource requirements per project and
motivates and manages those resources over the project duration.
