Subject: GenY Networking Group - Reminder - August 20th Meeting

To all the Friends of the GenY Networking Group - Thank you again for your continued support!

The next GenY Networking Group session will be held Wednesday, August 20th, 7 PM, Library of the Chathams (see flyer attached).

In the second of our two special Summer sessions, we welcome for the first time to GenY– Karen Shaw who will present 'How to Ace the Phone Interview - Four Key Steps to Landing Your Ideal Job'.

Karen Shaw is a 20+ year executive recruiting expert.  In that experience, she has seen first- hand how unprepared job seekers were for the interview process.  She's turned that experience around to now help job seekers because she believes that they shouldn't have to struggle so much and they deserve fulfilling work.  She's leveraged her recruiting and coaching experience - along with her own life journey through employment to help others find a more joyful life.

Karen's specialty is helping Undergraduate and Graduate students feel confident interviewing.  She coaches them through a mock interview process for the US market – which includes great questions and answers as well as an overview of their job market.  After working with her, they know exactly what to do next in their career search and can market themselves more effectively.

The phone interview is often the first step in the formal interview process.  However, most candidates don't look at it that way and they miss the opportunity to make it to the next round of interviews.
In this information-packed talk, you will learn the key steps to mastering the formal phone interview to give yourself the best chance to make it to the next step.

You will learn:

1.    The one critical question that is rarely answered well and how to do it right
2.    The recruiter insider secret to question-asking and how to answer them well
3.    What to do before the phone interview so that you're sharp as a tack and ready to shine
4.    How to grab the interviewers interest early on

You will leave this session with a structured approach to Ace the Phone Interview.  You'll feel more confident and come across as a rock star to the interviewer - and give yourself the best chance to make it to the next round!

I am confident that you will enjoy this evening - so please plan to attend and spread the word.

This meeting's Agenda –

- Introductions - hone your 'elevator pitch'; master this basic element of job search, networking, interviewing
- Karen Shaw – How to Ace the Phone Interview - Four Key Steps to Landing Your Ideal Job'

*** 2014 Calendar- Future meeting dates – Sep 3 & 17, Oct 1 & 15 ***

If you have attended this group in the past and found the evening to be both rewarding and informative please spread the word, and invite a friend.
Finally for all cc'd on this message - if you know a twenty-something (or early thirty-something) who could benefit from a forum dedicated to the specific dynamic of Generation Y please forward this email.  For more information see the group's Facebook - GenY Networking Group, or contact me.

Regards, joe f
