Also, in order to maximize your network, try to attend meetings indifferent geographical areas, but especially in towns where you are targetingcompanies that you would like to work for. Who knows, the personyou meet at one of these networking events may be able to introduce you to ahiring manager at one of your target companies.

In traveling to these events, consider carpooling. Not only will it reduce the cost of drivingthere, but the friendly conversation will make the ride seem to go much faster.

· Perfectingyour elevator pitch. An elevator pitch is a 30 second commercial of who youare, what you do and what makes you special.
· What makesyou different? Think about what makes you stand out from the crowd and weave that intoyour story. It should be any event oractivity where the listener wants to hear more about you. Brand awareness is not a list of youraccomplishments; it is what makes you interesting and memorable.

· How canyou enhance your brand? The secret sauce is visibility, in order to become knownby a broader population. Joinassociations and attend meetings; volunteer to be on committee; offer to becomea speaker at events in your profession; write articles; publish a book; thinkabout an interesting topic in your profession and become a guest on a localradio show.

· Insummary, get your name out there. If you are in a job search, developingyour brand also includes joining associations, and getting involved in speakingengagements. The ability to articulate your story becomes very important. Heretoo, your professional profile on social media becomes part of your brand.
