Ramsey JSWT Members:

Listed below are next week'supcoming networking events. All meetings are open to the public, plus you arewelcome and strongly encouraged to attend. Try going to at least one or twomeetings a week, what you learn there will definitely help shorten your time intransition. Also, many of these groups convene in the evening, so it will nottake time away from your daily job search activities.

Think of these meetings asopportunities, sort of like going to school, to learn something that can reduceyour time in transition by gaining knowledge in job search and interviewingskills needed to excel and standout from your competition.

In traveling to these meetings, consider car pooling. Not only will it reduce the cost of driving there, butthe friendly conversation will make the ride seem to go much faster.

Also, in the event of inclementweather, please check with the meeting organizer if the presentation will becanceled or postponed before traveling there. Your safety is important. Please rely on your best judgment beforeventuring out on slippery roads.

If anyone is aware of an upcoming meeting that you wouldlike to share with the group, please let me know and I will gladly include itwith my weekly updates. Also, if anytransition support group would like to receive this list of upcoming networkingevents to share with your members, please let me know and it would be my pleasureto add your group to the distribution list.

Thank you,

Tom Donohue

Process Improvement Business Analyst, Global Accounting Firm, Secaucus, NJ

Enhance End to End On-boarding Provisioning Processes
Project description
When a new employee joins our firm, we need to ensure all credentials are created in the relevant systems to ensure they have the appropriate accounts, login capabilities, a rich and full user profile, as well as an actual PC in which to perform their work.  Whilst they differ from country to country there are existing manual and automated processes in place (some sequential) to perform these tasks across the various systems and accounts (HR, AD, Domino, MIIS, Exchange, OneDesk etc.), but even if all these systems are working properly and the initial data entered is accurate it can take a minimum of seven days before IT Services is able to complete the E2E account provision process for a new joiner and provide them a laptop. This issue was initially raised in EMEIA but is a global concern and is therefore a high priority.

The goal of this concept is to examine the existing service and its constituent components, gather baseline data, identify areas for efficiencies to reduce overall SLA, define a service owner and execute a communications plan. The project is primarily focused on documenting the existing process, not on software development. The BA should be proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint and Visio.

Responsibilities:
• Work directly with customers to understand business needs and priorities and actively participate in the development and delivery of a solution for the Enhance End to End Onboarding Provisioning Processes project and required supporting artifacts.
• Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis, etc. Refine, validate, and prioritize business/functional requirements.
• Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
• Drive focused discussions to ensure the appropriate level of detail business requirement questions have been asked.
• Serve as the conduit between the customer community and the engineering, software development and support teams.
• Determine scope and resolution of problems and ensure customer/partners have appropriate updates. Present options for problem resolution.
• Recognize scope limitations and raise potential scope issue.
• Participates in testing activities; provides guidance for testing strategies, scope and scenarios; identifies testing risks and contributes to the overall management of project and risk plans; coordinates, and participates in complex testing efforts.

Customer Service - Part Time Temporary Help

Client project. The project involves visiting various financial institutions in NY and NJ, posing as a customer, to assess the employees' customer service and sales skills. For each visit, the investigator enters his or her observations into a website. For the current project, most investigations take approximately 10 minutes. Entering observations into the website takes most people about 7-8 minutes. Investigators are paid $20 for each investigation.

Investigators choose the locations they want (I have 150 locations throughout New Jersey: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Union, and Warren counties, as well as in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and Long Island) and conduct them according to their own schedule, as long as they meet the agreed upon deadline.
