·         Develop strategic procurement plans based on forecasts from sales and/or production control
·         Develop dashboard metrics for Procurement and manage performance to the metrics

·         Develop creative supplier sourcing strategies and coach Procurement staff to do the same
·         Lead contract negotiations with top suppliers to secure consistent supplies and competitive prices
·         Develop , communicate and manage policies, procedures and processes for the Procurement area
·         Manage procurement process and partnerships with suppliers to ensure the procurement of specified commodities to price, quality, and on time delivery
·         Manage procurement process interface with all relevant  departments and product management teams to provide effective procurement support
·         Act as procurement liaison to New Products Development team

* 8+ years of experience including 5+ years of experience working

* 5+ years of proven experience with such technologies as web

I published earlier on the subject, I am trying to stay away from
attributes like "communication" and "leadership" because 1) those terms are
so boring! and 2) they describe any executive role, not just the CIO.

What about "Using Technology to Challenge the Fundamentals of Your
Business" and "Telling a Compelling Story about IT"? What about "Building
Strategic Alliances" and "Developing Blended Executives"?

I could sit here in my office in snowy Boston and brainstorm the rest of
the list, or I could turn to you, O gracious readers, for your write-in
candidates. Please let me know, in a response to this email, *What is the
single most important (nuanced) competency that you believe is critical to
the CIO role?* As always, we will publish the list in a future Heller
Report.
