My client in Fairfield Country, a nimble, rapidly growing company, in a labor intense industry (service workers/union), is looking to hire a Chief Financial Officer with current/or very recent experience in a labor/service-sector-related industry. This position is responsible for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics<http://www.accountingtools.com/articles-summary-metrics/> tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets<http://www.accountingtools.com/definition-asset> and report accurate financial results (i.e., analyzing variances and developing improvements). Specifically:
* Strategic planning with a hands-on approach to implementing, monitoring and directing tactical financial initiatives; developing performance measurements that support the company's strategic direction.
* Working with complex pricing models.
* Managing the accounting function - accounts payable, receivable and payroll functions, as well as supervising other financial accountabilities - i.e., cash monitoring (daily), payroll (biweekly), general ledger review (monthly), Payroll/Sales tax preparation and filing, journal entries, invoicing, bank reconciliations and fixed asset records for timeliness, accuracy and completeness.
* Assuming ownership for implementing, managing, and monitoring internal controls.
* Directing the creation and maintenance of job budgets.
* Reviewing employee benefit plans, to maintain appropriate insurance coverage with a particular emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits package.
* Overseeing the issuance of financial information and reporting financial results to the company president.
* Taking the lead in recommending technology enhancements.
* Ensuring that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
* Ensuring that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors<http://www.accountingtools.com/definition-auditor> and government agencies.
* Reporting risk issues to the company president.
* Overseeing the annual preparation of data for outside auditors (financial and tax preparation) and investigating their findings and recommendations.
* Monitoring cash<http://www.accountingtools.com/definition-cash> balances and cash forecasts.
* Representing the company with investment bankers and investors<http://www.accountingtools.com/definition-investor> (e.g., participating in conference calls with the investment community).
* Championing and executing changes necessary to ensure increased financial stability and profitability.
Qualifications for this position include:
* Bachelor's degree (preferably in Accounting); master's degree (accounting or business administration) and/or CPA or CMA certifications would be a plus.
* 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in accounting/finance - at least half of which must be in a labor/service-sector-related industry.
* Current or recent experience in working with labor unions.
* Hands-on CFO with ability to "roll up sleeves."
* Experience in partnering with senior management.
* Exceptional people skills.

Failure is an event, not a person. Everyone experiences failure. How you respond makes all the difference. See what I mean in this latest post.Only the best,Ron "You don't have to attend every argument you're invited to."
I can explain it to you, I can't understand it for you.
I have a photographic memory, just not same day service. Warning: Dates in calendar are closer than they appear.
