Description     
Executive function
* Leads the CMC dossier function of RD in Boston with particular focus on biologics dossiers. Accountable for all CMC dossiers assigned to Boston Site, for clinical trials as well as market authorizations:
● Ensures seamless worldwide filing of Biological and small molecule CMC Dossiers for Boston-based RD projects in development for global registration and approval, emphasizing scientific content and quality consistent with current evolving regulatory expectations. The responsibility will also include CMC aspects of dossiers for life cycle management projects.
● Develops expert knowledge and effective interactions with regulatory agencies with particular emphasis on FDA.
● Oversees the scientific content with respect to HA expectations, defines the dossier outlines, coaches the scientific contributors, ensures consolidation of the dossiers, closely follows up on HA questions and coordinates responses with expert inputs.
● Liaises with RD Regulatory Affairs, IA Regulatory Affairs as well as global QA. Liaises with CMC development functions.
● Ensures efficient integration of biologics small molecule projects proposed by internal customers or 3rd parties. Confirms that their scientific development and reports are aligned with Sanofi's CMC dossier requirements.
● Collaborates and facilitates biological and small molecule CMC dossier preparation by partners (e.g. Regeneron) to ensure quality and consistency with the Sanofi's standards and expectations. Collaborates with LGCR on small molecules CMC dossiers.
● Contributes to regulatory strategy at group level (ensure efficient decision making and coordination of timing and content of filings and answer packages to HAs). Provides guidance to CMC development for all projects.
● Ensures delivery of PAS, e.g for CMC related PMRs via CMC dossiers for a period of approx. 18 months post filing of the eCTD in US and EU. Ensures smooth transfer of this responsibility to IA-Reg Ops.for any future CMC supplements.
Strategy Leadership
* In consultation with VP Global Biotherapeutics and Biologics CMC team leader, develops vision strategy regarding standards, improvements and realization of biological CMC dossiers for both internal and collaboration projects.
* In consultation with VP LGCR and Small Molecule CMC team leader, develops strategy, plan and realization of small molecule dossiers.
* Sets overall CMC strategy and objectives for Boston-based RD projects (IND filings, early and late development documentation standards, implementation of process changes including defining the scientific content to be included in the filing documents during the comparability exercises, including up-scaling and transfer to commercial plants for Phase III supplies and market approval, formulation changes, device introduction etc)
* Defines the strategy for including external consultants and CROs for filing purposes especially in Asia, etc,
* Collaborates in development of biosimilar filing strategies, as well as optimum ways to manage development of CMC dossier for 3rd party biologics businesses.
* Expands the dossier know-how into areas such as Gene Therapy, Nucleic acid submissions, as well as ad novel biologics (eg scaffolds) submissions.
* Manages regional submission strategies and dossier operations.
* Further consolidates and develops complex filings such as the ones needed for ADCs, as well as filings for novel highly concentrated liquid formulations combined with innovative devices (eg LVD) in close interface with IA device dev and production teams
* Lead Global and Regional (via delegation) new product specifications committees.
* Provides CMC development guidance to teams via, eg, DWG..
Line Management
* Is in charge of resources and budget planning of the Boston-based CMC Dossiers group
* Is member of the global CMC Dossier team
* Develops scientific and leadership talents in the dossier group, ensures cross fertilization within the platform and the hub as well as global RD and IA (eg Reg Affairs) in order to enlarge the talent pool
* Ensures flawless communication with RA but also ensures the appropriate strategy for provision of scientific content in order to avoid rejection of filings by HAs.
Operational effectiveness
· Is accountable for an effective dynamic resource allocation to projects aligned with the portfolio prioritization and industrial requirements.
· Fosters within Boston Hub as well as within Global Biotherapeutics/SCPs sharing application of best practices in order to increase efficiency.
· Continuously monitors improves the scientific technical quality of the dossiers in order to match requirements with state-of-the art biotechnology filings
· Leverages all dossier related expertise within RD, within IA, as well as leveraging on external experts and CROs as needed in order to deliver high quality dossiers on time
· Liaises with counterparts at Pasteur, and Merial, but also with major partner counterparts such as Regeneron.
· Advises and collaborates with therapeutic units with regard to dossier filings
· Drives fast CAN-to-POC implementation and seamless filings in ensuring balancing of risks with benefits with full transparency to the project teams, achieving effective exchanges and evaluations.
Internal External Network
· Collaborates effectively with project teams and addresses all emerging dossier related issues in an anticipating and timely problem-solving mode, in collaboration with Quality, IA and global regulatory affairs.
· Collaborates effectively with the local representatives of chemical and biological development, SQO as well as bio-manufacturing IA (e.g. BLP in Vitry), in order to optimally support filing of Biologics manufacturing site (s) and life cycle management related CMC dossier development.
· Through active contribution to projects, maintains effective relationship and collaborative interactions with other internal stakeholders of novel biologics (Pasteur, Genzyme, Merial)
· Develops and maintains effective relationship with opinion leaders (scientific, regulatory and quality) and partner organizations (both strategic partners of SANOFI,e.g.,Regeneron as well as other business partners) in the area of biologics dossier matters. Directly links with the respective team members in the US, EU, Japan and other regions in order to align filing contents, scientific standards, and resources.

· A leader with a clear vision and the willingness to continuously improve the effectiveness of the dossiers unit. Planner and implementer with a big picture view in all aspects of novel biologics and small molecules, regulation, compliance, and development with sound knowledge focused on filings including devices, bio-similars and bio-manufacturing. A person with problem-solving mindset, who can create networks, and processes to ensure timely delivery of high quality results.
· Proven ability to lead by influence, inspire, supervise and develop team leaders and talents to support the sanofi portfolio and deliver high quality CMC filings in clinical development and market applications.
· Well connected in regulatory, quality, industrial societies and relevant professional communities
· Able to effectively manage with a high sense of urgency without compromising quality.
Track Record
· Senior regulatory manager in large/mid-sized Pharmaceutical development organizations with expertise in biologics development and registration or within health authorities with similar expertise.
· Biologics dossiers fluency having delivered successfully biologics dossiers including BLAs / as well as projects in RD (at least 2 BLAs and 2 eCTDs)
· Regulatory working knowledge from operational and project perspective (submissions, inspections, approvals), for small moles., mAbs and devices.
· Strength and experience in quality aspects for Biologics
· Superior understanding of entire RD processes and state-of-the art approaches in biologics, notably in the development / CMC area
· Congress speeches, Scientific publications and/or patent applications issued
· International experience (international assignments and/or multinational projects teams)

· Expertise and experience in analytical chemistry for biologics is a MUST.
· Domain knowledge in CMC dossiers, reg CMC, and one of the following: bioresearch, bio-development.
· Small molecule CMC knowledge and experience is a plus.
Knowledge And Skills Desirable But Not Essential:
Languages
· English (mandatory) in combination with other language(s), notably French and German

All meetings are open to thepublic, plus you are welcome and strongly encouraged to attend. Try going to atleast one or two meetings a week, what you learn there will definitely helpshorten your time in transition. Also, many of these groups convene in theevening, so it will not take time away from your daily job search activities

Think of these meetings asopportunities, sort of like going to school, to learn something that can reduceyour time in transition by gaining knowledge in job search and interviewingskills needed to excel and standout from your competition.

In traveling to these meetings,consider car pooling. Not only will it reduce the cost of driving there, butthe friendly conversation will make the ride seem to go much faster.
