Title: Strategic Sourcing Manager
Reports to: Director, Global Procurement
Salary: $70 - 80k
Location: Greater New Haven, CT
The Schegg Group is seeking an experienced Strategic Soucring Manager who will manage commercial and supplier aspects of product development and sourcing projects. Work on conducting general market research in various categories as well as research into potential suppliers, product specifications and resources. The ideal caandidate will have experience with conducting supplier qualification analysis, evaluating existing/potential suppliers, and managing the overall supplier relationship program within the business. Expertise in negotiatiating agreements.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
Analyze market and delivery systems to access present and future material availability.
Achieve year-over-year reductions in raw material and packaging costs while maintaining or improving service levels, product quality, and reliability.
Locate new potential sources of materials and services, solicit competitive bids, conduct negotiations and secure contracts in accordance with Corporate Policy to obtain maximum value.
Monitor current and future market conditions and trends that will potentially affect the cost of purchased materials and services, without effecting quality requirements. Prepare reports outlining those conditions.
Develop and implement sourcing and contract manufacturing instructions, policies, and procedures.
Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute raw materials.
Develop and manage contract negotiations and formulate policies and procedures with supply base.
Analyze, support and actively participate in the development and implementation of company strategic sourcing strategy that align with local and global initiatives.
Facilitates the transfer of best practices and continuous improvement processes and practices and the generation of new savings ideas for the company.
Works with leadership to identify, validate, and execute special projects that will result in measureable value and savings to Company. Provides leadership and guidance to project team identified in executing these projects.
Nonessential Job Functions:
Perform other directly related appropriate duties and assume accountabilities as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed upon objectives.
Job Specifications/Skills:
Minimum of five (5) years purchasing experience, preferably in a process industry.
Very organized in scheduling and executing responsibilities and prioritizing in a multitask environment.
Self-starter with strong negotiation and contract administration skills.
Effective team building skills in the coordination of cross-functional teams.
Effective written, oral, interpersonal and communication skills.
Intermediate to Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access) and Outlook.
Good working knowledge and use of ERP business systems with in depth knowledge of MPS and MRP functions; knowledge of JD Edwards desired.
Team Cooperation - maintain positive, cooperative attitude with all employees and all customers.
Minimum Educational Requirements:
Bachelor degree from an accredited university or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Travel:
Domestic and international travel, approximately 25%.
Must have or be able to obtain a passport.
