Position Responsibilities - Summary
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Lead Systems Analyst to join
a strong, collaborative team in a role focusing on analysis with leadership
and advancement opportunities.
The Lead Systems Analyst will be responsible for requirements, systems
analysis, testing, and project management for the applications that support
the firm's security master data. The security master applications provide
the firm with business critical data related to the terms/conditions of
deals as well as company and security reference data. Our application
covers a wide variety of asset types, including equities, fixed income,
derivatives and OTC securities, which are used throughout the firm.
Currently, an implementation of a new Reference Data platform is underway
using Markit EDM. This is a great opportunity to join our team and design
lasting solutions for the next generation Security Master.
This position requires a high level of direct interaction with the business
users, and excellent communication and delivery skills. This individual must
be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task and work on a variety of
assignments with people at all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities:
* Partner with the Investment Data and Derivative Service business
team to prioritize, define and document new requirements
* Champion the user's needs to the software and quality assurance
engineers, insuring the "what" and "why" are effectively communicated
* Assist in the design, testing, and support of the Security Master
applications and their integration points
* Develop a strong partnership with the delivery team to ensure on
time, scalable and high quality business solutions.
* Proactively identify major issues, risks, and dependencies, and
manage them to minimize impact to the overall implementation
* Articulate and document design decisions and technical concepts
concisely and in an organized manner
* Provide team leadership on assigned projects that may include
both full time and consulting staff in a matrix organization.
* Act as an escalation point person for support issues that require
detailed analysis and management.
Required Skills and Competencies:
* 10+ years of software development experience with specific domain
expertise in the Reference Data.
* Creativity, attention to detail and leadership skills
* Change agent, innovative and focused on continuous improvements
* Demonstrated experience in business and systems analysis in
financial services industry
* Experience writing requirements, functional specifications, use
cases, and test plans
* Experience in writing sql commands and comfort in navigating
relational databases
* Experience in Data Management and working with data providers
such as Bloomberg, Markit and Thompson Reuters a plus
* Ability to understand legacy in-house applications and highly
complex and interrelated systems and processing
* Experience working with Markit EDM platform a plus
* Team management experience and a proven ability to work in a
cross functional environment
* Experience in managing delivery in a centralized team with
aggressive delivery timelines
* Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
* Self-motivated and willing to work in an energetic, fast paced
team environment.
Keys to this Position:
1. This is a senior role that is a combination of Functional and Technical
with emphasis on the Functional.
2. The Domain (Functional) requirement: This candidate must have a strong
background in Investment Management with exposure to Back Office and Middle
Office Operations. This individual will be responsible for Reference Data
Applications that includes Security Master, Analytics, Pricing and
Derivative Operations. Any experience in these areas is a very strong plus,
especially Company Security Master as well as Markit EDM.
3. Technical: The applications are written in Java (J2EE), PL/SQL and Data
Stage. Experience as an Analyst working with applications built with these
technologies is a big plus.
4. The candidate must have Excellent Communication and Client Relationship
skills. The individual will be interfacing directly with the business
(Investment Data and Derivatives Systems Operations).
