For many of us, our resumes and networks get us in the door, but it's
"personal chemistry" that closes the deal, whether it's landing a new job
or making a new networking contact. How do you inject your personality into
conversations with networking connections and discussions with
interviewers?
On January 27th, speaker Barbara Szala, President of In-Person
Communications, will lead an interactive session focusing on how to
effectively communicate your unique personal qualities and connect with
your listeners, entitled:
"*BEYOND THE RESUME: MAKING THE PERSONAL CONNECTION*"
Barbara will offer tips to help you enhance your job search capabilities by
drawing on your own natural talents. You'll have the opportunity to get
personalized coaching on how to project those intangible qualities--poise,
presence, focus, energy--that immediately create a positive impression and
win over your potential employers.
Take the challenge to present your One-Minute Personal Profile, and
discover what it is about you personally that helps you connect with your
listeners. Your presentation should be a thumbnail sketch of whatever will
assist your peers in getting to know you outside of the workplace--your
likes, dislikes, hobbies, education, family, community involvement, etc.
*WE WILL BE RECORDING INDIVIDUAL PRESENTATIONS*, so bring your own USB
drive to the meeting and you can take home your personal video--an ideal
tool for assessing your own effectiveness as a communicator.

.
*WE WILL BE RECORDING INDIVIDUAL PRESENTATIONS*
drive to the meeting and you can take home your personal video--an ideal
tool for assessing your own effectiveness as a communicator.

Barbara Szala, President of In-Person Communications, is a recognized
communications coach, conference speaker and business development
consultant. Her personalized coaching style encourages individuals to
embrace feedback and make the necessary changes to improve their own
performance as communicators and leaders.
In addition to TCN, she has presented at numerous trade association
meetings including the Financial Executives International, Risk Insurance
Management Society, the American Management Association, the International
Executive Resources Group, and other executive networking groups, such as
FENG, MENG, SENG and NJENG. She often facilitates management board retreats
and leadership conferences.
She serves on the Financial Executives International
Advisory Council. Her contribution in this capacity is reflected in a quote
by a member: "It is a real privilege to partner with someone who is always
connecting the dots between relationships, has tremendous follow-up and who
does all the 'networking
authenticity is highly valued."
------------
We look forward to seeing you at Barnert Temple on Monday, January 27th for
our evening with Barbara Szala, and "Beyond the Resume: Making the Personal
Connection." Please feel free to arrive at 6:30pm for extra open networking
time, and bring a friend! RSVP's are not required.
Next month, we will meet on February 24th (4th Monday, as usual), with
speaker Eli Amdur, and "'Fifty for Fifty' -- 50 Reasons to Hire the 50
(plus) Candidate."
