UNIX/Storage Engineer
The successful candidate will be a principal engineer within a highly skilled group responsible for all aspects of day to day operations, engineering, and architecture of the Unix servers and Storage infrastructure. The Unix/Storage group is an integral part of the Technology Solutions and Services (TSS) group within ITG, a leading global execution and research broker.
Responsibilities:
· Serve as a hands-on valued contributor to many initiatives within the infrastructure team and work closely with other teams (Networking, Databases, Windows, Web, and Desktop Support) to address issues and ensure problems are resolved in a timely and in an efficient manner.
· Interact with different business units and product development teams within ITG in order to help launch new products and initiatives and to support existing infrastructure.
· Maintain service coverage for the 24x7 production environment.
· Follow industry developments and trends and develop a clear vision of the information technology landscape to assist with making recommendations to management on advancing technology and improving stability.
Knowledge and Skills:
· Unix expert with 10+ years of hands on experience building and maintaining an enterprise
· Knowledge of Solaris and Linux operating systems
· Unix environment
· Extensive experience with SAN and NAS data storage technologies (Vmax, 3PAR, Brocade, NetApp, Isilon), and related protocols
· Knowledge of OS virtualization and networking fundamentals
· Programming languages and tools knowledge (C, Perl, Java, Shell scripts)
· 10+ years of Financial Services technology industry experience
· IT Project management experience
Requirements:
· University degree in Computer Science or a similar field, or a distinguished professional record with a minimum of 10+ years industry experience
· Dedicated customer service professional
· Team oriented employee who leads by example.
· Financial industry experience
· Excellent analytical and system problem-solving skills
· Strong communication skills
· Willing to work off hours when needed for production related maintenance and troubleshooting
