Modeling - the CyberExtruder Journey- Larry Gardner
=========================================
Our
speaker, Larry Gardner, will first provide us with an overview of his Firm's 3D
Modeling technology. CyberExtruder is particularly known for its reconstructive
technology that transforms 2D images of a person's face to 3D models. He will
explain how this technology works and how it is being used in industry both now
and projected. He will then take us through CyberExtruder39;s journey from a
startup to its current status as a leader in identity management with
facial recognition solutions for the intelligence, security and law enforcement
communities. The 'ride' had its share of up and downs and was quite
adventurous. The latter discussion should be of interest, particularly to
anyone with an entrepreneurial bent.
The Speaker
=========
Larry
Gardner cofounded
CyberExtruder with Jack Ives and Dr. Tim Parr in 2000. He has directed the
company from its startup: raising money, managing cash flow, and evangelizing a
new technology. Prior to founding CyberExtruder, Larry spent appx 30 years in
sales, marketing and senior management. He received his BS in Industrial
Administration, with a concentration in Mechanical Engineering, from the Un. of
Connecticut. He also owns a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the
Un. of New Haven.
PRESIDENT'S
COMMENTS
================
The
original speaker's topic planned for this meeting, "Threats to Data
Security in the Cloud," will be given next month when we meet at Alperti's
in Clark. This month's topic is a particularly interesting one and will take us
into a technology area that most of us are not particularly familiar with. I
think this is a good thing! We can use a respite from the cloud, networking,
and data related topics for at least a month.
Last
month's meeting on Big Data and Hadoop was a real hit! George Pace did a
terrific job introducing us to the topic, one of the hottest in the IT
business. The arrangement with Alperti's worked out well with the buffet style
dining approach. We will be working out a few kinks with Alperti's on the
arrangements in order to make the meeting experience even better. Also, I would
like to see George do another presentation to us sometime next year. What do
you people who attended think about the arrangements and George's presentation?
I would like to hear from you on those.

You are cordially invited to join us at the next IIBA New Jersey Chapter
Event
*Presentation: The Decision Model for Business Analysts 2013 presented by
Barbara von Halle*
*Date*: Thursday, April 18, 2013
*Location*: Microsoft - 101 Wood Avenue South Iselin, NJ
*Cost*: $ 20.00 for non-members, $ 5.00 for chapter members
*Meeting Summary*
*The Decision Model* (introduced to the public in 2009) is different from
all other business rules approaches. THESE DIFFERENCES ARE NOT BY ACCIDENT.
A lot has happened since 2009. Decision models, created by Business
Analysts, operate in production in corporations around the world, with and
without supporting software. Some organizations established Decision
Modeling centers of excellence. In 2013, the OMG will publish a document on
Decision Model and Notation. (OMG stands for Object Management Group and is
an IT standards group). This means that decision modeling is recognized as
a legitimate discipline and emerging software market.
*Key Takeaways:*
- Understand the purpose and progress of the emerging Object Management
Group's standards around Decision Modeling
- Learn about how effective Decision Models have been, by seeing
real-world productivity and agility metrics
- Participate in an interactive translation of compliance requirements
into a "normalized" decision model.
- Learn to navigate hidden, missing, ambiguous, and misleading
requirements and recast them in decision model format.

When it comes to job seeking, meeting hiring managers, cold calling and
direct mail (and even LinkedIn!) are NOT the most effective tools!
Especially today! So what IS the answer? Networking! Most people are not
born networkers; they develop the skills and confidence through education,
training, practice, and having a positive attitude. Whether you¹re at a
party, networking event, or other business function, it¹s not who you know
but who you want to know. Bottom line, networking is the most effective way
to attract more prospects, generate more referrals, create more
opportunities, and land the job!
Come learn more about Networking with an informative workshop at the next
Employment Ministry and Career Support Group Meeting on Thursday, April 11
at 7:30 at the Nazareth House, 88 West End Av, Somerville (1/4 mile from the
Somerville circle using the Rt 28 East "exit)39;). Guest Speaker, author and
Rutgers University adjunct professor Michael Goldberg
(www.KnockOutNetworking.com <http://www.KnockOutNetworking.com/ > ) will
discuss: How to overcome your fears and approach complete strangers with
confidence; The ³Rules to Networking² how to meet, greet, ask for business
cards, and transition; Places to network and best practices; The ³elevator
pitch² (with an opportunity to create one!) and more.
For more information, visit www.iccemploymentministry.org
