Desktop Specialist (Windows 7), NYC 12 months + possible extensions - $44/hr This position is a combination of a Business Analyst and a Sr. Desktop Support Engineer. Looking for candidates with Windows 7 desktop support experience who knows application testing/installation on Windows 7. Must be technical enough to help and articulate well to SME. The ideal candidate will have a background/experience in analyzing and developing computer software for Insurance, Finance and Record Management industry. Except to be able to formulate and define system scope and objectives. The position requires someone who can closely coordinate with Programmers to ensure proper implementation of program and system specifications. Project - ERM Desktop Transformation ERM is planning to upgrade their OS from Windows XP to Windows 7 (64bit/32bit) and Office 2010. This requires a full upgrade to all desktops/laptops and is expected to be performed by shared services (helpdesk/technical personnel). Concrete understanding of what happens throughout the upgrade process, and be able to assist users in backup and transformation. Assist in installation of desktop software, help with creation of support tickets and seek help from desktop SMEs. Individual needs to have a thorough understanding of how remote access works and be willing to help users with the same setup. Presentable and patient personality is a must, someone who can roll up their sleeves to engage, seek out, and help the team. Additionally, must be able to work in client locations in (NYC office/Jersey City office). Prior experience with desktop upgrade (required). Ability to coordinate and help users test desktop applications (required). Advanced technical skills and understanding of technical problems that can arise and articulated/identify the issue (required). Ability to pinpoint potential desktop problems and form solutions without needing to research software plugins, or online directions on how to identify driver issues and peruse technical documentation. MS Office skills required (not asking for macro programming) but the ability to check any plugin incompatibility. Presentable enough to articulate problems and follow up with hiring manager and end users. Able to understand perspective from a user standpoint. Excellent written and verbal communication skills (the role requires communicating with users and stakeholders). Experience as a Windows 7 engineer a plus and preferred MS certifications for Windows7 and Office 2010 is a plus and preferred. This is a highly visible and hands-on position.
