Position Responsibilities - Summary
The Data Services Manager is responsible for the management of the
information solutions and databases, including analysis, design,
development, administration, security, and vulnerabilities. The position is
responsible for ensuring a sound operational database environment,
overseeing the data integration processes, managing key vendor
relationships, and supporting key strategic projects. Person needs to be
hands on.
Detailed Responsibilities:
· Supervises two staff members within the Information Technology
Department
· Manages key vendor relationships with key software vendors.
· Chairs the Central Database Working Group (or equivalent) in
prioritizing the key data initiatives of the team members and drives the
group towards better utilization of data.
· Participates in the setting of strategic objectives for both the
Data Services team, including data integration and metadata reporting across
the enterprise.
· Reviews and actively participates in the formulation of
departmental policies, and procedures
· Works with IT manager peers to document, review, and effectively
implement standards that support the IT Enterprise Architecture.
· Responsible for maintaining enterprise data model, business
definitions of data, naming conventions, approved modeling tools and
database technology buy list, enterprise metadata repository, enterprise
data warehouse, database health and metrics.
· Maintains data requirements and definitions, controls data access
and usage, monitors data quality, resolves ownership conflicts
· Day-to-Day Operations
· Responsible for the day-to-day operations and health of the
database environment, including production, test, and business continuity.
· Ensure all databases, reporting, and related processes conform to
company policies, procedures, and standards and are auditable
· Responsible for the day-to-day management of the data integration
environment
· Provides, where applicable, technical support for business and IT
staff on issues surrounding the company's databases, data, and reporting.
· Partners with the Project Management Office to keep abreast of
current and future business needs.
· Supports the data and reporting needs of the company. Defines and
documents specifications and technical requirements based on business needs.
· Communicates technical concepts to non-technical audiences
· Maintains data definition dictionary, data transformation rules
and data source to target mapping, and data history
Required Skills and Competencies:
Knowledge/Skills
· Proven leadership including management direct reports
· SQL Server, Oracle administration and development
· SQL Server Administration Certification
· Working in a Windows and UNIX environment
· Data Warehousing, ETL(Informatica), SSRS \ Business Intelligence
reporting
· Data security, classification, and vulnerability management
· Analytical, organization, and technical writing
· Project management and business analysis
· Development tools and methodologies (MS SQL Enterprise Manager,
Toad, .NET)
· Interpersonal and consulting skills
Experience
· 5-10 Years of database administration preferred SQL Server &
Oracle
· 3-5 Years experience supervising direct reports or related
experience
· Experience in the financial services industry highly preferred
· Experience with data modeling tools, such as ERWIN
· Experience with data analysis tools
· Experience with building and maintaining a data warehouse
· Experience in establishing and monitoring data governance programs
· 4 Year degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems
or related
