Job Title: Middleware Engineer
Location: RIVERWOODS, IL
Duration: 3 Months (Full Time after 3 Months Contract)
Job Description:
This is a Sr. Associate position on the Middleware Engineering Team. The team researches, boards and evolves the most cost-effective software products and enterprise building blocks that improve the efficiency, availability and performance of application servers, middleware gateways and related platforms. The team owns and provides governance along with 24x7x 365 3rd level supports for the following technologies: WebSphere App Server, JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, WMQ, eXtremeScale, CICS Transaction Gateway, DataPower and Google Search Appliance. Team works closely with Enterprise Architecture, AD and peer infrastructure teams to identify and fill middleware technology or process gaps.
Skills Required:
- Expert skills in WAS, WMQ, Apache and Wily Introscope
- Solid understanding of J2EE application deployment patterns and n-tier architectures
- Exposure to or experience with eXtremeScale (or competitive distributed caches) and DataPower
- Solid understanding of SOA and web services concepts
- Experience in AIX/Linux systems administration, networking, storage and security concepts
- Expert shell/wsadmin/jython scripting skills
- Open to learning new technologies, forward and strategic thinking with the ability to plan the future and execute to get there
- Demonstrated history on working on complex, mission-critical systems in a fast-paced environment and evolving the middleware architecture to new levels
- Capable of influencing and driving organizational/process/technology change
- Excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Team player, self-motivated, requiring minimal direction and able to work effectively either independently or be highly-collaborative with peers
- Must have an excellent work ethic and customer service skills
Skills Desired:
- Experience with the CICS Transaction Gateway
- J2EE coding experience
- Experience with ColdFusion, PHP or
- General understanding of RDBMS concepts and design patterns
