TITLE: CONTROLLER
LOCATION: Stamford, CT (Local candidates only)
Reports to: CFO
A Stamford headquartered $200+ million consumer products company is looking for a Controller to handle all accounting processes of the company.
Must have experience as a controller in a consumer products company.
Responsibilities include:
Manage general and cost accounting functions.
Actively managing the normal daily finance function (cash receipts and disbursements, A/P, cash management, payroll, bank reconciliations, etc.).
Maintenance of the general ledger, inclusive of preparation and entry of monthly closings, including adjusting, closing and balancing accounts; general journal entries; account reconciliations; and balance sheet and income statement analyses
Preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting package, including income statement, balance sheet and statement of cash flows
Financial statement review and analysis to impact key business decisions
Development and administration of all accounting policies and internal controls, capable of implementing improvements on ongoing basis
Lead annual budget process
Supervise small accounting staff and develop / train / motivate team as necessary
Strong knowledge of accounting systems and software, with Microsoft Dynamics NAV experience preferred, experience with inventory, as well as exceptional Excel / Access data modeling and analysis skills. System implementation a huge plus.
In addition, the Controller will provide the CFO support in the following areas:
Managing banking relationships including cash management and compliance
Coordinate all compliance with lending institutions
Manage all planning for year-end audit and tax filings, including preparation of information for outside CPA firm
Candidate must be a detail-oriented and organized leader with an entrepreneurial mindset, ability to multi-task and work under pressure with a proactive, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.
Education & Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent experience.
7 - 15 years of relevant work experience, CPA a plus, but not required.
