AVP Business Manager
Full Time
Location: Jersey City
 
The current opening is a mid-level position within the business management group primarily responsible for all financial aspects of The Bank's Information Enterprise Services (IES) Enterprise Services (ES). IES ES is the group within The Bank that manages the data centers, hosting platforms, storage platforms data base platforms and all asset management responsibilities for IT infrastructure within The Bank's data centers.

A majority of Business Management's work revolves around management of IES financials and is comprised of both project work (e.g. contract negotiation, project management), as well as running the day-to-day business (e.g. annual planning process, client reporting, etc.). This entails interacting with other IES groups, The Bank's support functions (e.g. HR, Controlling, Corporate Purchasing, etc), as well as the bank's CIO/COO community.

Experience
4-6 years of experience in consulting, business management, or technology management

• Quantitatively strong
• Ability to clearly define a problem, its main drivers, potential solutions, and the next steps to assess and implement these solutions
• Ability to apply analysis appropriately and communicate it meaningfully

Commercial
• Ability to understand core economics/cost driver of services and products
• Ability to make clear and concise business arguments, using appropriate analytical and visual tools
• Ability to understand financial/commercial risks and identify mitigating factors

Project Management
• Ability
to scope, design, and implement complex project plans
• Ability to manage teams and non-Business Management parties without direct reporting lines
• Ability to monitor, track, and clearly communicate progress, escalating issues when appropriate
• Ability to balance project-specific duties with daily business responsibilities

Interpersonal
• Ability to work well w/ immediate and extended team members
• Ability to bridge cultural and geographic divides
• Ability to negotiate and deal with vendors on both commercial as well as operational issues
• Ability to deal with ambiguity and potential lack of technical knowledge
o In conjunction, have the ability to ask the right questions and get up to speed quickly on complex, and sometimes foreign subjects
• Possess a keen interest in technology and financial services
• Ability to wear many hats within an organization, and shift roles quickly and seamlessly
• Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently, choosing the most appropriate method and medium
• Ability to develop and coach junior team-members
• Ability to work independently within a fluid and organic organizational structure, often managing and/or reporting to various team-members and external parties as required, and often with little senior management oversight
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure environment with various work-streams and demands in place simultaneously
• Ability and willingness to travel semi frequently

Technical and Other
• Excel and PowerPoint required
• Access and Visio a plus
• Foreign languages a plus
