LinkedIn Tip: Find out how and when you connected with someone

Do you have a large LinkedIn group and sometimes find you may not remember exactly how you connected to someone if it was a while ago? Thanks to one of my LinkedIn connections here is a quick tip to find out how and when you connected with someone (Note that all your LinkedIn messages may not have been saved; some may have been deleted.):
In LinkedIn go to your Inbox.
In the Search Inbox search window on the right hand side of the screen choose "Inbox" for the search. Type the person's first name and last name in quotes and click on the Search magnifying glass icon.
Once you find their name in the list click on the "Join my network" link to see the original invitation. If you customize your invitations (a good best practice to help someone know who you are or how you met) you can read how you originally were connected.
Once you see how the connection was made, click on their name in the To part of the invitation to go to their profile.
Bonus Tip! - To remember this information scroll down in their profile and use the "Notes" box in the Contact Information section and type in a few notes and save this text. Now it will be in their profile to remind you going forward.
If the search in the Search Inbox did not work you may be using a Nickname, Tom vs. Thomas, although this usually brings back Thomas, or some other reason the name did not come back in the search. Try this next (but note that it may depend on how you are setup – and this way is more hit or miss and may be not worth the effort):
Click on the Inbox tab and click on the Invitations link in the inbox window.
Click on the Sent link at the left under Inbox. Your invitations will be in order starting with the most recent date. Navigation choices are at the bottom of pages: First, Last, Next, Previous.
There may be a way to list the invitations alphabetically, but I don't know how with my setup.
Once you find their name in the list, click on the "Join my network" link to see the original invitation. If you customize your invitations, (a good best practice to help someone know who you are or how you met) you can read how you originally were connected.
Once you see how the connection was made, click on their name in the To part of the invitation to go to their profile.
Bonus Tip! - To remember this information scroll half way down in their profile and use the "Private Information about" box and type in a few notes and save this text. Now it will be in their profile to remind you going forward.
Good luck - this one is tricky and may not be worth your time!
