Position Title:  Project Manager / Business Consultant
Reports To:     Section Manager – Business Relationship Management
 
I. PURPOSE OF POSITION
 
The Project Leader is responsible for communicating, planning, organizing, control, reporting, and delivery of IT projects within their relevant business area as assigned by the Design Manager.  The Project Leader is responsible for delivery and deployment of solutions, ensuring that they are on time, within budget and to the required ITPM standard.  The Project Leader is also responsible for collaboratively working with the business team(s) to gather requirements, create specifications and develop new solutions or enhance existing applications within the ITPM guidelines and disciplines
                       
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
•           Define and document Project Brief
•           Facilitate high level risk identification with team
•           Facilitate work and data flow definition and documentation
•           Define project team roles and responsibilities and work with resource managers to staff project assignments appropriately in support of allocation practices
•           Define and document the scope of the project
•           Define and document deliverables based Work Breakdown Structure
•           Define and document the workplan (schedule) for the project
•           Document the Project Management Plan (communication, risk/issue management, etc)
•           Define and document the budget plan for the project
•           Consistent project status reporting and distributed via email
•           Manage all phases of  IT projects including initiation, planning, cost management (when applicable), resource management, communications, and quality management
•           Document lessons learned throughout the project
•           Facilitate timely sponsor/leadership acceptance
•           Manage the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple or large scale projects.
•           Review high-level deliverables across projects.
•           Implement gateway review and quality assurance procedures in accordance with our ITPM methodology to ensure successful project execution as measured by department targets and goals.
•           Minimize IT's exposure and risk across multiple projects.
•           Manage scope and mitigate risk across projects                     30%

•           Effectively communicates relevant project/practice information to superiors and peers in other Business areas.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
 
Educational Requirements: 
 
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
Preferred Educational Background:
 
Project Management methodologies (PMI, Six Sigma, etc.); Communication; Leadership
 
Experience Requirements
5-7 years of project management experience (Information Technology)
3-5 years of systems analysis and design
3-5 years of staff supervisory experience
3-5 years of budget, planning, and cost tracking experience
Automotive experience a plus
 
IV.       POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (continued)
 
Special Skills: 
5-7 years of MS Project experience or application equivalent (i.e. Primavera)
3-5 years of Microsoft  Office (Word, Excel, Project, Powerpoint)
 
Other:
 
•           Proven track record of excellent project management skills demonstrated for challenging client, complex interrelated or technically oriented projects
•           Excellent consultative, listening, communications and analytical skills
•           Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work across the organization and interact/influence/negotiate effectively at all levels of management and peers
•           Critical thinker with excellent judgment and strong initiative
•           Experience in demonstrating leadership/influence and collaboration in a matrix-managed environment, and across multiple and diverse groups
•           Expert understanding of Project Management Methodologies (i.e. PMBOK, AGILE, PRINCE2)
•           Experience in PMI or Six Sigma disciplines would be a plus
