Peter,
I love a good metaphor, and CIOs do too. When much of your day consists of
explaining technology costs to people who don't always want to hear about
it, metaphors can come in handy.

Bruce Lee, Group CIO of NYSE Euronext, gave me a great new metaphor when he
talked about "infrastructure as an iceberg." The tip of the iceberg, he
explained, contains the promise of high-value customer facing technologies.
But lurking below sea level is a costly, bloated, loosely integrated
infrastructure.

Your executive peers can see the tip of the iceberg, but only you, the CIO,
see the rest of it. You know that without appropriate infrastructure
investments, the heavy bottom threatens to drag the tip of the iceberg down
until it is completely submerged. The onus is on you to create an
investment strategy to reduce that bulk, but how do you do it? Please read

To be sure, the role of CIO is multifaceted and complex, requiring diverse
capabilities to address the strategic and operational needs of the
organization. Deloitte recently researched these capabilities in detail and

I am reaching out in regards to an Infrastructure Project Manager contract position in Midtown Manhattan. This role is with the PMO of a large investment bank.

Contract length: 6 Months with extension possible

Contract Rate: 40-45/hr

The Infrastructure Project Manager will perform the following role:

Delivery of a number of projects and processes within the Voice and Security streams of Waratah Transformation:
Security device refresh project ¿ firewalls and proxy servers globally
SETA implementation project (Security Event Threat Analysis)
Call Detail Recording project
Financial Management Process
Activities:
Represent internal Service Owners to achieve:
Timely, accurate and effective escalation and management of risks and issues
Accurate project reporting
Stakeholder Management
Budget Management
Project Scheduling
Provide a single point of contact for supplier Project Managers in order to reduce complexity and the potential for delays.
Identify comms and training requirements
Benefit realisation
For the Call Detail Recording project, ensure stakeholders are engaged in the hosted solution (ISI Telemanagement Solutions Inc will provide the solution, utilising their Infortel Select Advantage solution) to confirm that it will meet their requirements
Engage with Finance and Complex Billing representatives to ensure all successful implementation of a Financial Management Process globally covering ordering to chargeback for:
The consolidated Telecommunication monthly invoice across services and projects
3rd party invoicing
Mobility
Conferencing

The Infrastructure Project Manager will have the following skills:

5+ years of Project Management experience, ideally within IT infrastructure services
Proven experience with senior stakeholder management
Proven experience with vendor and supplier management
Strong risk and dependency management skills
Proven Service delivery and Operations management
Proven experience working in different cultural environments
