There will be a Special Agent Hiring announcement opening on November 18, 2013, 12:00 a.m. and closing on November 20, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. The details are below. An external vacancy announcement is targeted to open on November 18 and close on November 20 for a Term Special Agent, GL-1811-9 (See below for the GS-9 qualifications). This announcement will be posted on the USAJOBS website. The Announcement Number will be 14CE3-CIX0001-1811-9-PE. This term appointment will last at least one (1) year and may be extended in one year increments up to four (4) years. There is potential for conversion to a permanent career/career conditional appointment in the same line of work after two years of current continuous service. While the term appointment may be terminated at any time due to lack of funds, CI will do everything possible to make the positions permanent and Leadership is proactively seeking approval to procure permanent funds not only to fund the two classes but potentially for additional SABT classes. Those interested in applying can create an account and a resume now on USAJOBS. Applicantscan also sign up for "Saved Searches" on USAJOBS to be notified when vacancies open (i.e., 1811) that interest them. Note: Under the Term appointment hiring authority, current IRS employees who elect to apply for the position and are selected will lose their competitive status and if not made permanent, cannot return to their previous IRS position. We are also partnering with HCO on class placements of those candidates who were selected off the previous internal merit promotion certificate. These internal candidates will be offered a special agent position as a temporary not-to-exceed one year with the provision that it may be extended or may become permanent without further competition if permanent funds are made available. These employees will not lose their competitive status and will be able to return to their former IRS position, if the temporary appointment is not converted to permanent. CI is also working on finalizing the new entry-level Special Agent, GL-1811-5/7/9 assessment and selection process. Once the size of our current queue has been reduced, CI will announce entry-level special agent positions using the new assessment tools.
