Our next AITP meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 11 at Jim Johnston's Steak House in Roseland. The speaker is George Pace who will present his 2014 - ""The 2014 Skills Map - Skill areas to consider learning in 2014 and beyond"
Many of you will remember that George gave an outstanding presentation on the subject of Big Data last year at our March '13 meeting. He is prepared to provide us with another most interesting presentation on a subject that should be of interest to all IT professionals. It's essentially on skills that we need to be familiar with. Please read below for the details. I really think you will enjoy this meeting.
Again, I kindly ask that you let me know if you will be attending.
Thanks,
Doug Hobby

With so little time and so many technologies to choose from - which technologies should you consider focusing on in 2014?
Join us for an evening of exploration with George Pace as he unveils his 2014 list of key IT stories occurring in 2013. He will explain the skills that are core to these stories and how they will be utilized and, perhaps, expanded in 2014. George will then focus on the seven (7) skills that he feels are important to the IT profession, where they fit in and how you can become more familiar with them.
If you want to "keep pace with technology in 2014" this presentation is for you!!
The Speaker
=========
George Pace has over 32 years of IT experience spanning a wide range of disciplines and diverse technologies. While he keeps pace with IT technology, he also has a particular interest in Social Networking (and the value it potentially provides to both organizations and individuals) and big data.
George is currently a Systems Architect at Prudential Financial. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Seton Hall University and an MBA from the Rutgers School of Management.
You can contact George at george@keep-pace.com, or his website at http://keep-pace.com/ . More importantly you can follow him on Twitter @keepac.
President's Comments
================
George Pace's presentations are always well prepared and interesting. His talk on Big Data last year was outstanding. I believe most of us could use a good overview of the key technologies currently applicable to the IT profession, as well as the technical trends we can expect in the immediate future. What are the key technologies? What skills are going to be most in demand in 2014 involving these technologies? What you can do as an IT professional to become more familiar with these skills? This is good stuff and I strongly recommend that you attend George's presentation (plus the steaks are just fine!)
I am always eager to receive feedback on our meetings - the topics selected, location, format, etc. Please feel free to send me an email with your thoughts and ideas.
The Chapter gained one new member: Peter Milshtein. I hope he will be able to attend this meeting. We look forward to meeting him.
