Job Title: Technical Writer

Location: Waltham, MA

Duration: 6 months

Duties:
* Plan, develop, and maintain documentation for enterprise-level products.
* Work collaboratively as part of a globally-distributed team.
* Communicate proactively and think creatively to ensure that problems are
solved and impediments are overcome in a timely fashion
* Assist in the analysis of requirements and design specification documents.
* Research audience needs and analyze source materials. Write for the target
audience.
* Apply professional content development standards and principles to develop
end-user documentation.
* Understand content development tools required to deliver products.
* Understand and use content management principles.
* Follow company standards for content development.
* Interview and consult with technical subject matter experts to gather
information necessary to effectively document product features.
* Conduct technical reviews and coordinate editorial reviews.

Skills: Excellent English language skills, especially in writing.
2 to 4 years´ experience working in Information Development or similar
environment.
Excellent writing and technical skills with proven experience writing
high-quality documentation for software.
Ideal candidate has experience writing about enterprise-level network
management products, as well as consumer software products.
Our audience ranges from network security administrators to the most novice
users, so you must be able to adjust your writing accordingly.
Excellent at developing linear and non-linear content for print, online, and
Web-based documentation. Ideal candidate is skilled in topic-oriented
writing and can provide a wide range of samples that demonstrate that skill.

Must be willing to work with international development teams, including
conference calls, remote meetings, and emails.
Experience working with XML-based authoring tools (preferably Vasont and
XMetaL) and Adobe FrameMaker is desirable.
Experience working with content management systems and structured writing
tools is desirable.
Excellent project management skills.
Can manage multiple projects at once.
Experience with documentation production and online development.
Understands information development process and how it fits into the product
lifecycle and standard software development business practices.
Must be able to work in unsettled or rapidly changing circumstances.
Can continue to make progress on work despite the absence of important
information, unresolved situations, frequent change, delays, or unexpected
events.

Education: B.A.B.S. degree in related field and/or related work experience
or certificate in continuing education in this industry
