Commercial Real Estate Lending Specialist Credit Advisor - New York, NY Overall Summary of the Job The Private Bank Commercial Real Estate Lending Specialist is the subject matter expert for all commercial real estate related credit and risk based products. Primary responsibilities are origination, oversight and management of all CRE credit and derivative facilities to HNW and UHNW Private Bank clients. This includes managing, reviewing and recommending credit limits and risk ratings and ensuring adherence to all applicable credit procedures and policies. Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions - Effectively communicate Private Bank lending strategy and risk appetite
- Operate with a sense of urgency, ability to work under tight and sometimes competing priorities. Establish a reputation of execution excellence.
- Ability to train, lead and/or assist credit advisory team and relationship managers in the identification and screening of proposed CRE transactions and providing solutions
- Strong relationship building skills and presence, understands importance of building credibility, has skills to influence and negotiate with credit risk, relationship managers and clients
- Prescreen all new loan requests with credit advisors, reject credits or moves forward with recommendations as appropriate
- Understand competitive environment and develop strategies to retain and win high quality new client financings or restructurings while ensuring that all solutions are consistent with PB credit policies and credit FIMs
- Structure credit facilities to ensure optimum balance between customer and company interests while remaining within the bounds of prudent banking and approved bank policies
- Creation of a business plan which identifies steps for meeting all risk management, portfolio quality and revenue goals as captured in the balanced scorecard objectives
- Play lead role in credit approval process by performing high quality credit analysis, due diligence and credit presentations.
- Recommend risk ratings
- Recommend and review documentation
- Establish and/or monitor risk management KRIs, documentation and compliance requirements
- Ensure that pricing meets all required ROA and ROE pricing hurdles and screens all pricing exceptions with region managers, group heads and head of front office lines of business
- Monitor activities on facilities to ensure usage complies with approved terms and conditions, manage CRE portfolio and complete annual reviews, renewals and extensions. Ensure early identification of potential problem accounts and protection of the bank's position through early remedial action
· Stay abreast of legal and regulatory changes, industry trends Required Experience - 10+ years experience and proven success in area of Commercial Real Estate product and risk management
- Thorough understanding of commercial real estate industry, and regulations impacting the business, lending, credit approval and portfolio monitoring.

- Ability to meet deadlines and manage relationship manager and client expectations
- High quality collaboration skills in a team-oriented environment

- Completion of formal credit training preferred.
- BA Required; MBA preferred.
