Does Your Résumé Read Like an Obituary of Your Career?
By Norine Dagliano
Peter A. Professional's Career, 2000 - 2012
Here lies Peter Professional's career. A victim of the current recession,
Peter's career has been on life support since a layoff from a healthcare
consulting firm. Prior to its final demise, Peter took his career through a
stint as a personal fitness trainer and ended it working as a car salesman
with a luxury-car dealership.
Peter was a graduate of a prestigious university where he earned a degree in
integrated science and technology. He immediately began employment as a
tumor biology lab technician where he worked for 2 years before joining the
consulting firm. While there, he "utilized empirical data and statistically
significant best practices to influence positive change for client's capital
efficiencies."

7 Goofs to Avoid on a Thank-You Email
By Ritika Trikha <http://money.usnews.com/ >topics/author/ ritika_trikha
Writing a well-crafted thank-you email following a job interview can give
you a positive boost. It shows you're an organized, courteous, eager, and
savvy professional.
But failing to send one can be a rookie mistake. Most employers expect a
sincere thank you-and the indifferent few will only appreciate the extra
effort, keeping you on their radar.

According to Steve Langerud, a workplace consultant and director of
professional opportunities at DePauw University, "Not sending a thank you
says, 'I just don't care.'"
If you want to seal the deal with a killer thank you, then you should never:

What To Say On LinkedIn When You've Been Laid Off
By Deborah L. Jacobs <http://blogs.forbes.com/ > , Forbesdeborahljacobs/
Staff
Many people who've been laid off feel like crawling in a hole, rather than
broadcasting their new job status (or more accurately, lack-of job-status)
to the world at large. But if you want to find another position, that's
precisely what you should do, says Sandra A.VanGilder, an executive coach
with her own firm in New York <http://www.forbes.com/places/ > .ny/new-york/
