Subject: Hurricane Sandy - Where to Get Help or Volunteer
Greetings from the Jersey Shore. Johnny and I are fine. We had 4 days without power, phones, Internet. Our neighborhood was Neighbors Helping Neighbors--some had a generator, others food, still others cell phone chargers. A few fallen trees on roofs.
If you need assistance or want to volunteer your assistance, please contact your local American Red Cross. They train volunteers and have arranged for additional food and supplies to come into the area from out of state. My stepson's company, Sysco, is sending food to NJ from Memphis for the Red Cross to distribute.
Say a prayer for those who lost their homes in Union Beach, Sea Bright, Long Beach Island, Seaside Heights and who sustained damages which will stretch insurance companies, FEMA and our social service agencies. Each one reach one. We'll get through this, we are NJ Strong. Boardwalks can be replaced, people can't be.
