Job Summary:
This Senior Management Team position is responsible for the overall management of
Horst's Quality function. This position will report to the President or his designee.
Major areas of responsibility:
Define and gain support for the company's quality management system, company quality
programs, and procedures.
* Develop inspection processes and streamline inspection production.
* Interpret customer/industry drawings, specifications, and requirements and
developing inspections systems/metrology to satisfy requirements.
* Manage all quality function employees (Quality Engineers, Inspectors, DQR's, etc.)
* Escalate any unresolved violations or concerns.
* Provide final judgment on quality issues.
* Ensure that the company is operating in accordance with ISO, AS, and other
standards, and maintains associated certifications and positive audit results.
* Responsible for effective quality processes including procedures, documentation
systems, tools, metrics and measurable improvements that are required to meet
quality system standards.

* Provide oversight to internal audits on process and proper document and record
control.
* Provide training to assure awareness and understanding of customer's requirements
and acts as the company's main customer quality assurance contact.
* Manage the company's non-conforming product issues.
* Provide communication, guidance, and direction to company teams on government
related requirements.
* Provide the Senior Management Team with guidance on customer mandated
changes or industry changes.
* Manage quality budget including gages, equipment, certifications, calibration,
services, etc.
* Make recommendations for and implement improvements to quality (i.e. gage
technology, systems improvements, etc.
* Responsible for collecting and reporting quality metrics (KPI's).
Requirements:
* 4 year degree in Quality Systems, Engineering, Industrial Management, or equivalent
work experience
* 10+ years' experience including management/supervision and experience with
applying quality processes and procedures in a aerospace manufacturing/precision
machining environment.
* Experienced with application of AS and ISO quality standards.
* Strong information technology skills, especially related to digital gaging and other
quality systems.
* Ability to create and effectively communicate regulations/standards.
* Ability to positively influence groups across an organization to work toward a common
philosophy.
* Ability to manage and execute on multiple, critical projects simultaneously.
* Strong ethics to escalate issues in the face of competing company priorities.

* Job shop/contract manufacturer environment experience.
* Aerospace industry experience.
* Medical industry experience.
* Vision system and/or CMM experience.
* Knowledge of threaded fastener inspection and machine screw thread geometry.
* Materials science knowledge (metrology).
* Special process knowledge (e.g. heat treatment, coatings, testing, etc.)
* Lean enterprise training.
* Six Sigma training.
