Job Description:
* This project is a physical server move powered-off servers will be physically moved from one data center to another, and powered back on
* The DBA will startup and do a healthcheck for each of the databases.
* The DBA will support the acceptance tests during server and application start up
* The DBA will work with the application and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise from bringing the applications back on line.
* Databases are Oracle and Microsoft SQL.
Database Engineer
Provides subject matter expertise in multiple facets of database lifecycle. Successful candidate will be able to provide guidance in best practices for installation, configuration, data migration, performance tuning and maintenance for platforms including Oracle, and SQL Server. Database engineers will be engaged in migrations from legacy environment using out of date versions of these and other Database Management Systems, and in-depth knowledge of multiple versions available for the past 10+ years is required. Highly skilled and experienced in large scale automated build, packaging and deployment techniques using scripts and software tools (Microsoft, BMC, and HP automation and orchestration suites).
This position will require technical collaboration with management, application development, project managers, vendors and other infrastructure engineering groups. Successful candidate must possess the ability to work collaboratively throughout the application lifecycle. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
Experience:
* Responsible for the design, installation, upgrade, maintenance and monitoring of Oracle/SQL database components in order to ensure the viability and integrity of the Companys data maintained by these products
* Monitor Oracle/SQL databases for performance problems and recommend performance-
* Respond to and resolve Oracle/SQL access and performance issues
* Participate in cross training activities as needed in the Oracle/SQL applications and database environments
* Review, and maintain policies and procedures pertaining to application and database recovery and disaster recovery
* Participate in the installation and maintenance of Oracle/SQL technology stack products and utilities
* Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing procedures for modifications to Oracle/SQL databases
* Research and recommend Oracle/SQL application support products and tools and application development products and tools
* Recommend, establish, and implement Oracle/SQL database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity, recoverability, and availability of the Companys data controlled by these databases
* Perform off-hours production support as needed
* Work with application development staff to establish Oracle/SQL coding and testing policies and standards as well as assist/answer any questions/problems regarding application development
* Work/interface with Network staff to determine space availability and placements of Oracle/SQL applications and databases
* Interface with other department personnel as required
* Participate in departmental and user group meetings
