may be mostly a thing of the past. But the 'bad guys' have found a multitude of
other ways of breaching an organization39;s network security and gaining access
to critical data. Cross-site scripting attacks is the primary methodology used
for this purpose. Mr. Fama will explain cross-site scripting as well as other
methodologies developed for the purpose of breaching an organization39;s network.
He will also provide an in-depth presentation on best practices and methodology
for improving network security.

Last
month our speaker's presentation was on the topic of facial recognition
technology. It appears that the timing for this topic could not have been much
better. Although it was questionable on how much it helped, facial recognition
was used in the search for the Boston bombers. For many people, it was the
first time they became aware of the impact this technology has and will have on
law enforcement. Also, the State of NY Division of Motor Vehicles recently
announced that the use of facial recognition resulted in over 2,500 arrests
since 2010 of people for identity fraud.
Just a
reminder, the cost of the meeting includes a buffet dinner. We
will continue to order from the menu only when our meetings are held at
Johnston's Steak House.
Alperti's
is relatively easy to get to from most areas in central NJ, which is one reason
why it was selected in hopes of attracting ITers from that area to our Chapter
meetings. I urge you to take advantage of the networking and educational
opportunities we offer and attend. Thanks.
Repeating
my comment from last month, the Chapter officers have decided to propose
(target) topics for the rest of the year(see Future Meetings below) and are
encouraging our members and friends to suggest alternatives to that shown if
they feel it would improve the lineup. All suggestions will be given
consideration and changes could be made.
We
are pleased to have a representative from CIS provide this month's
presentation. CIS is a nationwide consulting company that provides IT services
relating to identity and access management, disaster recovery and business
continuity, centralized management of resources, network security,
infrastructure design and other support services.
