Position Summary:
The Director is responsible for delivering new and innovative technology solutions on a timely and cost effective manner enabling PSEG's businesses to realize additional value. This position is a direct report to the Vice President & CIO, and a member of the IT Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
Responsible for all end-to-end activities producing new application solutions, the Director manages all IT resources required to scope, plan, design, build, test, and deploy IT solutions across PSE&G, PSEG Power, PSEG Services, and other lines of business. The Director will establish strong relationships with business leaders founded on common goals, value realization, and reliable execution. The role will also work with business functions to ensure appropriate change management is in place to maximize technology adoption.
Additionally, this position will be accountable for introducing industry best practices into PSEG operations and to follow PSEG IT Software Delivery Lifecycle processes. As part of the IT SLT, this position will collaborate with IT Strategic Planning and Architecture to ensure that any delivered solution is consistent with the Technology Roadmap and Enterprise Architecture. Coordination will also be required with the Application Support group to effect disruption-free deployments into production.
Primary Responsibilities:
Direct, coach and counsel IT resources (internal and external) on business technology projects and programs in all facets of IT program delivery: project management, scope and requirements management, application design, solution build, testing, change management, and deployment to production.
Ensure that project teams are compliant with IT's Software Delivery Life Cycle, SOX, CMMi and other process requirements. Included in process compliance is ensuring that all hand offs between Planning, Operations and other IT and Business functions are properly executed.
Partner with business leaders to define opportunities for transformative value creation, customer experience improvements and driving operations to best-in-class performance levels. Ensure that business requirements are identified and well defined.
Develop and manage department's capital and O&M budgets and ensure annual adherence.
Ensure scalability of IT application development function to meet cyclical business needs.
Maintain a keen awareness of evolving industry best practices, vendor performance, new technology solutions, and apply to application development initiatives.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors' Degree
Minimum of five years' experience leading SAP Application Development departments in Fortune 500 companies
Required Competencies:
Strong best practice knowledge of Customer Service, Field Service and/or Back-Office applications
Prior success partnering with senior business leaders to transform business practices and processes through technology adoption
Experience managing a large department of 30+ FTE's with a track record of innovation and successful delivery
Proven ability to create a culture of operational excellence centered on business results and continuous improvement.
Experience managing large scale, multi-vendor, SAP transformational projects.
Experience managing deep business partnerships with software and IT services providers in outsourced environments
Strong process discipline in a continuous improvement environment (e.g. CMMi, ITIL, Six Sigma, TPS, Lean)
Demonstrated capabilities in leadership, innovation, problem solving, influencing, organizing, relationship building, communication skills, strategic thinking, project management, change management.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelors' degree in Business, IT, Engineering, or other related technical disciplines with significant coursework in a complementary function
Masters' degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Technical Engineering, or other related technical disciplines, or an M.B.A.
Experience in Electric/Gas Utility or Power Generation business
