trading, reduce operational risk, and improve efficiency.
This senior member of the Alternatives Systems Team will combine software
engineering with some investment experience and quantitative skills to drive
development of the next generation software solutions.
Responsibilities:
· Work closely with the Business Analysts team to understand
business problems and create effective technical solutions
· Participate in development and support for multiple applications
including Calypso (vendor application) and in house built tools
· Participate in full-cycle software development including
regression testing, deployment, and support of new tools
· Stay abreast of the "state of the art" as it relates to technology
innovation and trends, both within the firm and throughout the industry
Required Skills and Competencies:
· A minimum of five years of experience in the investment industry,
ideally with an asset manager, a hedge fund, or an investment bank
· A minimum three years of experience with front office tools in one
or more of the following areas: fixed income, equity, commodity, asset
allocation, or derivatives
· Demonstrated client focus and relationship management skills
· Solid understanding and hands-on experience with core Java, XML,
HTML, Tomcat, IBM MQ, in UNIX and Windows environments
· Working knowledge of SQL and relational database technology
· Understanding of Equity, Fixed income, and/or Derivatives
instruments is a plus
· Former quantitative background is a plus
· Excellent written and verbal communications skills
· Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced, mission-critical
production environment
· Strong delivery focus and ability to overcome obstacles
· Advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, physics,
statistics, or another quantitative field
Keys to this Position:
1. Technical: We are seeking a technical hands-on Lead with core Java
skills. This is mostly server side development. This is an individual
contributor role.
2. Domain knowledge: The candidate should have a minimum of five years of
experience in the investment industry, ideally with an asset manager, an
investment bank or a financial services software vendor like Charles River.
3. The ideal candidate will have experience with front office tools in one
or more of the following areas: Derivatives, Fixed Income, Equity, or
Commodity Systems. However this is just a plus.
4. The candidate should also possess strong communication skills.
