Position Responsibilities Summary
Capacity Analyst Hands-on position responsible for enterprise wide
capacity and performance management of all company applications and IT
infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
· Ensuring ample capacity across all computing environments,
including servers, network, storage, applications, and data center
· Collect and maintain capacity metrics, ensuring data collection
across required environments, create and present management reports
· Analyze data to identify issues and trends
· Defining and tracking system lifecycle to ensure newest
architectures are being utilized most efficiently in the environment
· Work with application teams to forecast future needs to identify
future capacity requirements, performing capacity analysis on current vs.
projected resource requirements
· Creating monthly capacity report that provides insight into
existing capacity
· Document existing capacity issues and follow through to
resolution, working with responsible parties
· Identify future capacity restraints before they affect end user
experience.
Required Skills and Competencies:
· Strong competence in capacity planning and analysis
· Drive to seek out opportunities for improvement in technologies
and systems
· Professionalism and demonstrated customer service skills
· Team player
· Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), including
ability to communicate with all levels in the organization
· Proven ability to multi-task and perform well in a face paced
environment
· Ability to work independently
· Desire to improve upon existing processes/procedures and drive
efficiencies
· Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Operations
Research or other technical field preferred
Preferred Skills
· Experience with capacity tools, including BMC, Ganglia, Oracle
Enterprise Manager, VCenter, VMTurbo, HP NNMi
· Knowledge of ITIL processes
· Scripting skills (shell, perl, python, php)
Keys to this Position:
1) 3+ years of Capacity Planning experience working with capacity
tools like BMC, Ganglia, Oracle Enterprise Manager, VCenter, VMTurbo, and
HP NNMi - (Other tools experience should suffice)
2) The candidate needs to have Scripting experience (Shell, Perl,
Python or other scripting languages)
3) Knowledge of ITIL Processes is a strong plus
4) Capacity Planning experience out of a large complex environment
required Mission Critical 24x7- 100's of applications 1000's of
servers 100's of databases Windows, Linux, & Unix Financial Services
background a big plus.
5) Excellent communication skills
