Dear Peter,

A friendly reminder about your event registration:

The Psychology of Business Analysis, Moving Beyond Our Own Limitations - Dr. Jerry Smith, LiquidHub
Chubb, 15 Mountainview Rd, Warren, NJ 07059
Date: 09/19/2013 5:30 PM EDT

As Business Analysts, we are constantly presented with new techniques and tools designed to help us identify business needs and determine solutions to business problems. While most are useful to some degree or another, many fail to account for how we process information to make judgments on incomplete and ambiguous information. As business analysts, we should be self-conscious about our reasoning processes, mental models and mindsets.  We should think about how we make judgments and reach conclusions, but not about the judgments and conclusions themselves.

This presentation will cover:

  • Practical cognitive psychology concerning how business analysts process information to make judgments on incomplete and ambiguous information
  • Exciting experimental finding & analysis methodologies used by some of the most successful intelligence analysts in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)
  • Human mental process pitfalls that cannot be eliminated in the Business Analyst.
  • Techniques to train ourselves to look for and recognize these mental obstacles, and then develop procedures to offset them.

About the Presenter:

Dr. Jerry A. Smith, Managing Director with LiquidHub, uses psychological techniques to identify and deliver value in the emerging field of data science.  He has extensive global outsourcing and off-shoring expertise in the Enterprise Software & Service business. His industry experience includes tenure as CTO and CIO at Fortune 1000 software companies.
