KOHL Group Job Description: KG111213_Network Eng Title: Network Engineer (TCP/IP, Ethernet, Layer 2 & 3) Arrangement: Full time, long-term contract position Location: Must work on client's site in Holmdel, NJ Start: Multiple openings, onboarding now through December 2013 Job Description: - Design, implement, troubleshoot, plan and optimize network architectures
- Develop high quality network configurations for the implementation of mobility and Voice Solutions, including Layer 3 VPNS and Layer 2 (VPLS-based) VPNS.
- Use Cisco, Juniper platforms, Foundry, Ciena platforms which include, MWR2941, C7609, 6500 switches, ASR-903, ASR-901, ASR-9010, GSR-12K routers, Juniper M320, Juniper MX480/960 and switch platforms C3800, C3600, C3560, C3750, Ciena 3960, Ciena 3930, Ciena 3911, Foundry 8500
- Apply networking fundamentals including IPV6, TCP/IP, network routing protocols OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, conceptually and practically good in MPLS/VPN, WAN solutions
- Implement and troubleshoot QoS in LAN and WAN networks
- Configure and troubleshoot L2 switching technologies including STP, MSTP, VTP, HSRP, VRRP, and GLBP
- Work on networking layer 1, 2, 3, 4-7 testing tools including Spirent Test center, IXIA Network, Spirent Avalanche, IXIA load generator, Net Flow Analyzer, benchmarking tools including Spirent QSCOPE, network impairment tools including packet storm, IXIA ANUE. Perform Scripting and automation of testing with TCL and PERL languages. Analyze the design, prepare test plans based on test platform capabilities, construct, configure and troubleshoot network test bed.
- Write deployment guidelines; respond to escalations caused by network technology issues and/or customer issues and work on forward looking technology insertion projects, which will include upgrades, migrations, new feature enablement, and other projects
- Test and configure LAN/MAN technologies including OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, ATM, Frame-Relay and LAN technologies including Ethernet and VLAN. Maintain and administer the computer networks and related computing environments; which include UNIX and SUN servers, SNMP servers, load balancers, IBM blade servers
- Perform cell site backhaul network testing to validate network behavior
- Provide field support for the tested and deployed technologies
- Maintain, administer the routing and switch networks and related computing environments including hardware, system software, application software, routers/switches configuration
- Provide expertise and support to the team in the routing domain, switching domain, test application software/firmware design and network setup
- Optimize network performance, interoperability, and robustness by configuring and testing new network equipment
- Perform all of the foregoing applying extensive knowledge of IP, MPLS, MPLS Traffic Engineering Multicast, L2 and L3 VPNs, Multicast VPN, PNNI, BGP, router technology, Layer 2 switch technology (FR/ATM), EMS , SNMP, Network Management
- Recent and extensive experience with Cisco GSR & CRS1 routers, Ethernet switches, Juniper routers, Cisco CRS1, Cisco MGX FR/ATM switches.
Education: Requires a Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Related Field and 2 years of experience in the job offered.
