SENIOR MICROSTRATEGY DEVELOPER
Major firm located in Pennsylvania is seeking a full time Senior MicroStrategy Developer. The ideal candidate should possess six to eight years of experience. Position Summary:
Lead MicroStrategy Projects for a Data Warehouse supporting the firms applications.
He / She will be accountable for the full range of software application development activities, as well as maintenance/enhancement of existing computer-based systems or software modules supporting one or more business areas or enabling technologies. The systems supported/developed will typically involve several technologies, including client-server, and Web-server components as well as requiring the individual to be well versed in multiple software languages and tools.
The ideal candidate is expected to develop relationships with technical and non-technical customers, co-workers, consultants and vendors while continuing to research and advance technical prowess. Has expert knowledge of Energy Trading or Commodities Systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
Serve as a Senior MicroStrategy developer for major and minor technology initiatives that support the firm through the active participation in projects, operations and support efforts.
Participation in the entire project life cycle; including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support of BI solutions.
Collaboratively assist in the analysis, preparation, and presentation of solution designs.
Participation in the entire project life cycle; including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support of BI solutions.
Collaboratively assist in the analysis, preparation, and presentation of solution designs.
Understand the requirements and convert them into Logical Data Model (Hierarchies).
Develop reporting architecture on Current and Historical Data, develop and maintain large MicroStrategy cubes.
Review existing model, and performance suggest enhancements to the schema for performance tuning reports and dashboard.
Create reports and Dashboards to support the firms Energy traders make better decisions based on analytical reports.
Performs quality assurance for the design, development and testing of system enhancements and changes that are made to BI systems, data stores, and processes to ensure that they function according to design.
Provides technical support, analyzes issues, and recommends solutions regarding data load, transformation and reporting.
Assist in the research, analysis & documentation of Metadata.
Actively involved in production support activities; including on-call/after hours solution support.
Performs, leads and is responsible for the full range of project software activities (discover requirements, design/assess software packages, develop, deploy and document) needed to provide solutions to business problems/opportunities. These solutions will typically span a wide range of technologies, client-server and Web-server.
Performs assigned duties independently, has latitude for making design decisions on an application level, and discusses or seeks approval on more complex/broader issues with the Supervisor or Lead Integrator.
Performs full range of project management activities by contributing to the development of project plans, estimating work, task scheduling, assigning work, cost/benefit analysis and progress reporting.
Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration.
Basic Qualifications:
BS or BA in Computer Science, Math, Engineering or Other Technical Field (or Non-Technical BS/BA with 6 or more years relevant IT experience).
A Masters degree in a business area, engineering, computer science, or finance, or MBA or Equivalent work experience considered as well.

MicroStrategy 9.X
Oracle 10 G
MicroStrategy Certification in Version 9.X
Microsoft Access
Knowledge of the commodities trading industry
Familiarity with energy trading and risk management systems such as (SunGard Zainet, Triplepoint CXL /ROME, and similar systems)
