*Position: System/Server Administrator II*
*Duration: 12 Months*
*Locations: Pittsburgh, PA*

*Software Systems Specialist II *
· The job holder designs, implements, integrates and supports
various mainframe, mid-frame, distributed, web and PC operating systems and
ancillary products.
· S/he formulates system scope and objectives, analyzes user
hardware and software needs and recommends upgrades or new purchases.
· S/he is involved in all phases of implementation and performs
software installations and documents system software.
· Minimum 3 - 5 years experience required. Job holder must have
thorough knowledge of the company's organization's technology practices,
standards and procedures and implementing heterogeneous, open systems.
· S/he must have prior experience with producing detail-level
functional requirement documentation and selecting the optimal testing
environment for specific applications.
· S/he must also be experienced with coordinating all parties
affected by putting new applications into production. Job holder must be
familiar with designing and executing major software installations and key
issues related to implementing a security system.
· S/he must be experienced at addressing a variety of technical
(hardware, software or application) problems.
· S/he must also be customer-service oriented, able to build
cooperative relationships with people and have effective oral and written
communication skills.
· Job holder must be an experienced problem solver who thinks
creatively about solutions and adapts easily to changing priorities. B.S.
or B.A. or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree or
certification beneficial.
· 40% Formulates plans to meet system performance objectives; works
in all phases of system analysis and implementation activities. Analyzes,
implements, maintains and documents system software installed in all
environments, mainframe, mid-range, distributed, web and PC.
· 35% Performs software installations and upgrades to operating
systems and layered software packages. Works with various infrastructure
problems dealing with the mainframe, mid-range, distributed, web and PC
environments, resolving and reporting results to management
· 20% Analyzes user hardware and software needs and recommends
upgrades or new purchases. Communicates both formally and informally with
customers and end users. This would
· include the reporting on projects and answering technical
questions.
· 5% Communicates with Vendor support personnel to resolve problems
and work through software enhancements

*Additional requirements: *
· The job holder participates in the design, implementation,
integration and support of a vendor product consisting of a three-tiered
architecture within BNYMellon¿s infrastructure.
· S/he supports issues, installations, upgrades, and configurations
of the vendor product while also working with the systems group to
configure the required operating systems, networking, storage, security,
and high availability/disaster recovery solutions.
· The position includes a high learning curve of complex
configurations and processes, so the capacity to learn and retain new items
is essential.
· The position requires interaction and coordination with various
technical teams, development teams, and business operational teams, which
requires strong communication and coordination skills.
· The position supports several production systems so a willingness
to work off hours or weekends as necessary is required.
· Working knowledge or preferred skills consist of:
· UNIX (Linux/AIX)
· Windows server administration
· SQL (Oracle)
· System Design (understanding basic system needs, backups,
failover, disaster recovery, monitoring, etc.)
· General networking knowledge
· Change management
· Any previous experience with the following items would be
beneficial, but not required:
· Eagle Investment Systems suite of products
· PERL
· Veritas Clustering
· Harvest
· Access Control (eTrust)
· Client System Tools (Open View, Sitemin)
