I received the following request for a controller in the construction industry from my friends at Sax Macy Fromm. The salary range is $80K - $90K.

A well-established construction company in Bergen County, NJ is currently seeking an experienced controller to join their team. The controller would report directly to the Company¡¦s stockholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
„X Managing all the general accounting functions, including A/P, A/R, Payroll, and journal entries
„X Preparation of weekly payroll and coordinate all required quarterly and annual filings (including time sheets, Excel spreadsheets, certified payrolls, etc.)
„X Administer all monthly billings and invoicing with both customers and vendors, including AIA billings, milestone payments, collections, change orders, and claims.
„X Supervising office personnel and oversee all administrative functions related to office management, including employee benefits and insurance
„X Preparation of internal financial statements, work in process schedules and related analysis for the Company¡¦s stockholders on a monthly basis
„X Coordination of accounting and tax matters with outside accounting firm
„X Direct preparation of budgets and forecasts
„X Address all correspondence received from federal, state, and local agencies
„X Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies, banks, and sureties
„X Coordinate the month-end and year-end closing process.
„X Preparation of quarterly and annual sales and use tax filings
„X Evaluate procedures to improve methods for controlling and reducing costs of overall operational costs.
„X Oversees cash management activities, including monthly reconciliation of all cash and credit card accounts.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university and more than five years of prior experience in the construction industry is preferred. CPA license is also preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Timberline and MS Office.
