Galen Technology Solutions seeks a full-time Business Analyst for our client, an insurance provider, located in Jersey City, NJ.
MUST HAVE SKILLS:
Job Title: Senior Business Analyst
A minimum of 5 years experience in the insurance industry implement new applications and major system enhancements.
Excellent knowledge of the P&C business and familiarity with a broad spectrum of Insurance applications.
Thorough understanding of underwriting process included the policy lifecycle.
5 to 7 years experience in the SDLC implementing new applications and major enhancements. These include underwriting, financial, statistical reporting and claims systems.
Ability to work with technical teams (developers, architects, QA, infrastructure), business partners and software vendors to document and implement system modifications on time and within budget.
Excellent team player with a proven background of individual contribution.
Strong track record in building strong relationships with clients and business partners
Excellent interpersonal, documentation, communication, and presentation skills.
IN ADDITION IT WOULD BE AN ASSET IF YOUR EXPERIENCE INCLUDED:
Experience with Specialty P&C lines of business (Casualty) a plus
SQL skills to query SQL databases.
Excel Macro writing a plus
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
BA or BS degree preferred
Insurance specific training or designation a plus
DESCRIPTION:
Position Summary: The Business Analyst is responsible forgathering requirements, developing workflow and system specifications, and execution of tasks required to deliver IT solutions in support of internal applications.
Specific responsibilities include:
Requirements gathering from the Business Users and well as developing system specifications for projects, enhancements and bug/issues.
Working with Developers to assure specifications are understood and followed.
Supporting quality assurance and user acceptance testing
Drive solutions via system modifications and/or workflow to implement new processes (automation, regulatory, etc).
Customer support and guidance.
Compiling detailed documentation for technical teams (architect, developers, QA, etc) involved to be clear on the nature and scope of the item being worked on
Issue resolution/escalation including prioritization and tracking.
Project management of issues through the entire System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

Working on a team that will be part of the USB IT Team working on a rewrite of a large .NET application.
Responsibilities:
Designs and codes programs, creates transactions and runs test; revises as necessary.
Conducts analysis of organizational needs and goals for the development and implementation of application systems.
Reviews, analyzes and modifies programming systems, including encoding, testing, debugging and installing for a large
Scale system.
Maintains records to document program development and revisions.
Conduct analysis of organizational needs and goals for the development and implementation of application systems.
Provides technical support to technical vendor resources.
Candidates will follow the full systems development lifecycles (SDLC) and MetLife̢۪s change management process.
The ideal candidate will need to have strong technical, analytical and communication skills.

Mentor more junior staff.
Reviews work products from team and vendor consultants.

2+ years of Oracle experience.
Expertise on Visual Studio 2010, .NET 4 and MVC 3
Expertise in using Domain/Entity Models and OR/M tools such as NHibernate or Microsoft Entity Framework
Exposure to Windows Communication Foundation and Enterprise Libraries is desirable
Salary Range This is a temporary position which will pay up to $60 an hour Corp to Corp and less for W-2.
