Northern Fairfield Professionals (NFP) guest speaker tonight, is Linda Van

This position is responsible for managing the development of new products and/or a launch. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, interpreting and communicating management direction on projects to their colleagues within the business unit, and partnering with Development to ensure that new products are developed within the desired timeframe. Key Job Accountabilities:
Business Management:
· Articulates expertise in category knowledge; draws conclusions and develops plan

New Product Launches:
· Work with Copywriter to develop concepts

Sales /Trade Marketing:

SUMMARY
The Actuary will be expected to apply the knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to Unpaid Claim Liability, Trend Analysis, Rate Formula Evaluation, Dentist Fee Analysis, Financial Forecasting and Business Analytics. The Actuary will closely interact with the Vice President, Underwriting who is responsible for the renewal and quoting functions of the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct special actuarial studies and provide the necessary level of expertise in the areas of work assigned
Review of experience, rates, provider reimbursement, profit margins and administrative expense margins of the Delta Dental indemnity (risk) business
Review of Delta Dental products, including analysis of experience, profit and rate adequacy products such as pools, associations, new product designs and special products
Review and analyze the adequacy of administrative income, in conjunction with current sales, underwriting and corporate profitability objectives . Perform periodic analysis of the impact of changes in administrative income based on the evolution of the book of business
Review and analyze the ongoing Delta Dental claims experience; trends in utilization; fee inflation; experience within specific business segments, etc.
Identify and analyze the internal and external factors which affect statistics for use in forecasting, trending, and rate models, etc.
Review and analyze the various business relationships and partnerships (Delta Dental Insurance Company, etc.). Perform periodic analysis of income versus expenses and profitability
Responsible for the calculation and implementation of reimbursement tables and allowable fees and the impact of any changes and/or modifications
Perform periodic review of administrative fee tables
Calculation and review of the Unpaid Claim Liabilities (IBNR) including run-off reporting and projections
Prepare and sign the actuarial opinion as part of the Annual Statement filing requirement including the loss reserve specialist function for the Dental Re statutory filing
In conjunction with Delta Dental's General Counsel, act as primary contact with the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance pertaining to actuarial related matters
Primary point of contact for interaction with external actuaries dealing with company matters (Deloitte & Touché, Milliman, Mercer, etc.)
Participate on product development teams as requested
Collaborate with programmers, the Vice President, Underwriting and members of senior management to help develop plans for new products and/or improving existing business
Responsible for the preparation and adherence to the departmental budget. Prepare variance reports to monitor department expense activities
Special projects and duties as assigned
Education/Experience/Personal Requirements
This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related field, with emphasis or experience in Business or Insurance. An ASA and/or FSA designation required and a minimum of 5 plus years of actuarial experience in the Healthcare Insurance industry (dental experience a plus) and a minimum of 3 years of management experience. Knowledge of valuation and financial projections as well as familiarity with GAAP and statutory financial reporting and accounting principles is essential. Knowledge of business intelligence and data warehouse applications is highly desirable.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required along with the ability to establish priorities and make decisions and to work independently with proficiency with MS Excel & Office and other proprietary software applications.

Description: We are seeking a motivated and results-oriented Senior Software Engineer to work on our portfolio optimization product. As an applicant, you will have solid experience with C++, and a strong mathematical background. It is essential that you are able to work independently and have excellent problem-solving skills. The position will be based in New York, Boston or Los Angeles, depending on where we find the best candidate. Strong communication skills a must.
Responsibilities:
• Develop new features for our existing portfolio optimization software
• Enhance the capability of our optimization engine using unmanaged C++
• Make modifications to C# and Java APIs as needed
• Work with CPLEX optimization library to set up optimization problems
• Consult with product manager to understand and meet client requirements
• Implement automated developer testing using unit tests and acceptance tests
• Collaborate with QA to ensure highest quality standards are met
• Work independently with minimal supervision to build robust software
• Communicate status through Rally and through weekly status reports
Required:
• Strong mathematical background
• Deep understanding of linear programming
• Experience using CPLEX or other optimization packages such as Excel Solver and Matlab Optimization toolbox
• Strong C++ development skills (preferably unmanaged C++)
• Database development experience (preferably SQL server)
• Self-starter capable of working independently
Preferred:
• Experience with Java Swing
• J2EE, Spring, JBoss, JMS experience
• C# development experience
• Experience with Agile development(Rally a plus)

Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Sr. Business Analyst who will have
responsibility to elicit, analyze, validate, verify, and facilitate testing
of business process solutions and requirements for ITS PMO sourced
projects. This position will have an important role in defining highly
functioning business processes, tools, and roles to improve administrative
services for students and faculty, which include working closely with
functional and technical SMEs, identifying gaps and opportunities,
re-designing business processes, assessing technical tools, leading
integration design of multiple tools and manual processes, supporting
solution development, and implementing improvements.
The Business Analyst serves as the conduit between the ITS customer
community and the ITS software development team. The BA is involved at some
level throughout the entire solution development life cycle; however, the
majority of the work effort is focused on development and management of the
project charter, metrics, use cases, business requirements and solution
testing approach.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of student information systems
and demonstrated ability to work with University leadership.
Required Skills and Experience
. Minimum of 5-7 years of Business Analysis experience, preferably
with strong user interaction
. BS/BA; Masters Degree a plus
. A general understanding of Business Analysis and Process
Improvement (BA/PI ) best practices and the ability to apply them in
practice
. A general understanding of software development life cycles
methodologies e.g. SDLC, Agile and Waterfall
. General understanding and application of various business process
improvement methodologies, techniques and tools, e.g. TQM, Lean, Six Sigma
etc.
. 2 or more years of practical experience leading business process
improvement initiatives in a complex transactional environment
. Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and
presentation
. Executive Level interpersonal relationship building, collaboration
and facilitation skills

§ Performing detailed due diligence including site visitations, management interviews, review of strategic alternatives and legal documentation as well as business, financial, industry, and market research and analysis;
§ Constructing and maintaining sophisticated, scenario driven financial and valuation models including analysis of financing alternatives, cash flow and IRR analysis, LBO/debt repayment analysis, accretion/dilution analysis, sum-of-the-parts valuation, discounted cash flow valuation, comparable public company valuation, comparable merger and acquisition valuation, loan pricing and derivative pricing;
§ Continually monitoring certain economic, industry, capital market and company trends and developments;
§ Preparing and presenting detailed financial analyses and reports to directors, senior managers, lenders and shareholders;
§ Developing and maintaining relationships with existing clients through periodic conversations and meetings;
Requirements:
* 1-4 years of relevant experience, preferably in a Valuation Services Group
* Knowlegde of the entire M&A process from start to finish
* Experience in Financial Reporting, and Valuation of Businesses and Portfolio Investments
* A thorough understanding of valuation theory and practice (MBA and/or CFA preferred but not required)

Our client is an established business valuation firm and has earned a reputation as a leading provider of business valuation and security analysis, intangible asset and intellectual property appraisal and corporate finance. With offices located throughout the country, they are a full service firm offering a wide range of valuation and corporate finance services to both private and public companies nationwide.
The Senior Associate will be involved in many aspects of financial valuation and advisory services to a variety of clientele. Specifically, they will report to the head of the firm's transaction and advisory practice, the Senior Associate will manage sell-side and buy-side M&A activities and fairness opinion services. In addition they will be responsible for advisory and valuation engagements to analyze potential liquidity options available to middle-market companies, effect corporate restructuring, create new classes of equity, maintain compliance with Employee Stock Ownership Plans and other ERISA plans, and effect intra-family ownership transfers, among others.
The ideal candidate should have concentrated valuation experience and strong experience with fairness/solvency opinions. As well as an advanced, working knowledge of Excel and Word. Strong oral and written communication skills and superior analytical capabilities are essential. Must have quant skills and be familiar with financial modeling. A degree in Finance is required. An MBA and/or CFA (or CFA candidate) are also preferred. A background in accounting coursework is important and relevant to the responsibilities of the position. The ideal candidate would have 2-4 years experience only.

Supervise and assist billing staff with any billing and e-billing issues.
