The Role: Director of Transportation Location: East Coast-TBD
The Opportunity:
As a key leader and team member this role requires a generalist with expertise in transportation and logistics in an organization with $100M+ in transportation spend. Reporting to the VP of North American Supply Chain Management, the Director of Logistics will implement the vision of the NA Supply Chain Organization. Duties and responsibilities include;
Leads all transportation planning strategic activities and projects to ensure continuous performance improvement.
Plans, directs, coordinates and maintains economical and efficient transportation channels for the organization providing recommendations for transportation improvement.
Hires, manages and develops the team that coordinates all product flow from plant to warehouse locations across the US as well as reverse logistics operations.
Responsible for the selection of participants for the organizations' core carrier program
Manages all carrier relationships to ensure client is receiving optimal service.
Responsible for managing and reviewing all contracts and bids between the client and carriers and warehouses.
Hiring, developing and coaching individual contributors and team members, and others to assure effective collaboration in managing current projects and initiatives.
Working in cooperation with other divisions to ensure a coordinated approach to problem identification and resolution.
Developing and maintaining an effective working relationship with global colleagues in other disciplines to ensure coordination and information exchange across the organizations range of capabilities, particularly with other teams managing related products.
The Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will have substantial and proven relevant experience in developing and managing a highly successful Logistics function. Must have development and promotion potential. Experience will include, but is not limited to:
10+ years experience with transportation or logistics in large, multinational corporations
Demonstrated thought leadership and problem-solving capabilities
Deep knowledge of TL, LTL, Rail, Air, and Ocean freight
Substantial experience working with third party vendors
National logistics/shipping experience
Strong project management and leadership skills
Superior oral and written communication skills
Appropriate education and credentials will include a BS/BA degree from a recognized university
Consulting background with CPG industry experience preferred

The Opportunity:
As a key leader and team member this role requires expertise in distribution center productivity, metrics, objective setting, cost reduction strategies, network inventory and the management of 3PL agreements. Reporting to the VP of North American Supply Chain Management, the Director of Distribution will implement the vision of the NA Supply Chain Organization. Duties and responsibilities include;
Leads all budget development, management and cost initiatives for 8 US Distribution Centers.
Plans, directs, coordinates and maintains an economical and efficient distribution center operation, providing recommendations for distribution improvements.
Hires, manages and develops the team that coordinates all Distribution Center operations across the US.
Responsible for the selection, development and the execution of lease agreements for 3PL's.
Works with Distribution Center landlords and management companies to develop and execute lease agreements.
Manages all network inventories and ensures inventory accuracy.
Hiring, developing and coaching individual contributors and team members, and others to assure effective collaboration in managing current projects and initiatives.
Working in cooperation with other divisions and overseas manufacturing locations to ensure a coordinated approach to improvements and problem identification and resolution.
Developing and maintaining an effective working relationship with global colleagues in other disciplines to ensure coordination and information exchange across the organizations range of capabilities, particularly with other teams managing related products.

15+ years experience with Distribution Centers in large, multinational corporations
Demonstrated thought leadership and problem-solving capabilities
Working knowledge of TL, LTL, Rail, Air, and Ocean freight
Experience managing direct reports remotely
Proficiency in WMS, TMS, and ERP
Substantial experience working with third party vendors
Strong project management and leadership skills
Superior oral and written communication skills
Appropriate education and credentials will include a BS/BA degree from a recognized university
Travel up to 40%

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING
Possess an Associate of Arts or BachelorĂ¢s Degree with a concentration in
Computer-Related Technology and/or Business Administration; or equivalent
experience in management information systems.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
Five years experience in data processing with three years of full time systems
analysis and programming experience using COBOL or Visual Works in a data base
environment; working knowledge of data communications and personal computer
hardware and software applications.
CREDENTIALS AND/OR SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of principles and methods of systems analysis for data processing
applications; capabilities and limitations of the HP3000 hardware and MPE/iX
software; utilization of Apple Macintosh and/or Windows 95

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the general direction of the Coordinator of Systems and Development;
independently performs system analysis, design, programming, documentation, task
implementation and program maintenance of considerable difficulty in a large and
diverse user environment within a broad framework of standards, policies, and
procedures, utilizing current techniques and methodologies. Does related work
as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to: 1.Analyzes existing or
proposed projects and requests to determine the feasibility for technical
adaptation; may prepare cost estimates for these proposed projects; documents
and presents written reports detailing the analysis performed. 2.Designs
systems; detailing procedures to be followed by users; revises and creates
departmental forms for data processing applications or manual procedures;
prepares system and data flow diagrams; translates problem statements into
programming definitions.
